I realised I don't have any Bokuto birthday fics! I will rectify that next year, but to celebrate, I thought I would share some of my soft and sweet shorter Bo threads.
Keep My Hands Busy
Tags: gentle, slice of life, implied mild BokuAka Summary: Bokuto Knits
Bokuto knits.
And he loved it.
It’s not something he expected, but years of doing it (he started in high school) means it has… weight. Emotional weight. The fact that it was Akaashi’s suggestion makes it even more special. Even if he’d been a little… opposed at the start. It took a very slightly exasperated Akaashi sitting next to him as he hid under the desk to say, “I don’t really see how trying to knit on the bench is more embarrassing than this Bokuto-san.”
And he was right.
It didn’t help – as he loudly and pointedly told Akaashi – but he was right.
“It’s not more embarrassing. But I don’t see the point! How’s knitting going to help me play?”
He’d sulkily said that to Akaashi who had the audacity - audacity! - to roll his eyes and reply, “It’s about focus, Bokuto-san. Which I told you last time you asked about it.”
So, he more or less good naturedly started to knit. And found he liked it. Yes, he got some teasing from his team mates. And even more from Kuroo, but he persisted. Akaashi was right, it did help him focus. Or at least, it helped him not lose focus, but even more importantly? Suddenly he was doing something where he could make things for people!
Not that it started that way. He almost threw it down a few times – not as a tanty, as Konoha indicated. But in manly frustration!
But then he got his first few stitches down. They linked together, and they looked like they could be something. And after finishing three granny squares, he decided he was going to thank Akaashi with a small gift.
At least, that was the plan.
He misjudged the scarf for Akaashi and it ended up 6m long.
"You don't have to keep it," he said, not looking at Akaashi. Who very stoically took it from his hands, and wrapped it around his neck a lot of times. (He later said it was worth it, just to see Bokuto's face light up. Everyone said he was whipped).
And from there it exploded. Tea cosies. Hats. A jacket for Yukippe's dog. He managed to make Kuroo gloves that had cats on them, and he wore them every winter without fail. (Years later, when they wore through, he asked for a new pair)
When he finally ran out of winter things to make, he knitted himself a bikini and it’s still the coolest thing he owns. ... well, maybe not as cool as the Hooters shirt, but a very, very, very close second.
Even later, when he finished high school, when he finished university, when he was a professional volleyball player like he always dreamed… he still knitted. Even though he was better at focusing, and he didn't need to have his hands constantly busy to get through a match, he still chose to sit on the bench, when the opportunity came, and knit.
He still makes presents for all his friends, and they are better than ever. (The next time when he made Akaashi a 6m scarf it was on purpose. And Kuroo wears his fifth set of gloves, still covered with cats, on official JVA business. And all the jackals have matching cup cosies they proudly use.)
And every now and then Bokuto struts his stuff on the beach in his knitted bikini. But now he has a matching knitted coverup.
It’s incredibly hot – but he’s still cool.

“You’re one of the most confusing bartenders I’ve ever met.”
When he didn’t show up for his normal shift, Ronin had taken it upon himself to find out what happened. Turns out that despite how much gloating Dareth did about never having a sick day, all it took was one dose of seasonal flu shots to knock him out of commission. He had found him lounging on the couch with a remote and a notepad, looking astonished that Ronin waltzed his way in without a key to a door he swore he locked...
And Ronin, who had helped himself to the pantry, had taken a seat against him with a bowl of shrimp chips.
“What do you mean?” Dareth tapped the pen against his chin, trying to finish his thought through a headache and now Ronin’s crunching.
“I was just thinking about last time we were at the bar and I coughed up my tab, you said something like ‘I don’t do that’, ‘I don’t have tabs’. What kind of bartender doesn’t have his own tab?”
“One that doesn’t want to be in debt to his own business...” He glanced up as his boyfriend took the remote off the floor and began flipping through channels. There were plenty of movies on at this hour, the news was broadcasting the forecast predictions, shopping channels, things that didn’t seem to interest him. He stopped at one of the talk shows, one of the drama ones with the live audience for reactions.
The host, a man dawning a white suit and pristine smile, riled up the audience as he laughed and entered from left stage. His voice was boisterous, showy, and dripping with enthusiasm as he read out the secession juicy headlines. Something about a daughter having a fallout with her rich parents, a famous actor’s scandal, and the latest in seasonal fashion.
Something Dareth must have made a noise at, for Ronin’s head snapped over to meet his unusually annoyed expression.
It was clear that he wasn’t going to get any planning done now that Ronin was here.
“Justin,” Dareth answered the unasked question with a sneer, “The host.”
“Didn’t know you weren’t a fan, thought you liked TV stuff,” Ronin changed the channel to a soap opera.
“I *do*, just not when it comes to *him*.” He mumbled, half hoping that Ronin wouldn’t hear.
Unfortunately it seemed he did, as he lowered the TV volume more than it was already. He turned to look at him again, sitting up, “Well why’s that?”
‘No getting out of this one now.’ he thought and sighed, tossing the notebook and pen onto the floor and pushing himself up into more of a sitting position, “What I’m about to tell you is a brown ninja secret. You have to promise me to not tell this to anyone, okay?”
“Okay?” Ronin knit his brow, just how bad was this going to be? Dareth wasn’t a criminal, hell he wasn’t even sure he was even capable of it all things considered.
“Justin and I used to date back in the day when I was working in the TV media business. We had a nasty falling out which resulted in me losing my entire career. Now every time I see him and hear his voice I get all, I dunno, mad and upset and sad. Why is it that the jerk gets to keep the high life? How does anyone keep putting up with him for so long?” he huffed, hugging his elbows. “How did I put up with him for so long?”
Ronin blinked, wanting to say ‘so what?’ but thinking twice. Why was this some big secret, people go through breakups all the time? Questions he didn’t need to be asking at that moment, instead attempting a different route. “Bet he was a lousy kisser, more lousy than me.” he smirked.
“You are not a lousy kisser,” Dareth pointed, glad to change the subject.
Ronin set the bowl aside and leaned on him. “Yeah? You want me to prove it?”
“Prove yourself wrong you mean, shrimp-breath?”

So I’ve been gone for a while
Hi!
Sort-of-life-update:
School is being evil but it ends soon so there is freedom on the horizon
My teacher did not like my essay recently, still devastated over this (it was supposed to be about an aspect of a culture in the middle east. Because we were in our middle east unit. I went “oh I’ll write about common themes and symbolism in Israel!” And then found myself drowning in information about the history of Judaism instead… and when I learn something in the course of a project I have a habit of including what I’ve learned in my essay. It’s because I don’t outline properly.)
I am unwillingly being forced to face the fact that maybe everyone doesn’t have to like. have a council meeting with themselves in their head in order to convince themselves into brushing their teeth. May need to up my antidepressants, because GOD do I want my mom’s energy levels and she’s getting them SOMEHOW. Can’t imagine not living on a tiny energy budget. @ Universe GIVE ME A BIGGER ALLOWANCE
Watched a new anime with my younger sibling recently. We were taking care of the house while my parents took a three-day vacation to Las Vegas, and we watched an anime called “I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss”. Absolutely hilarious to watch my younger sibling be seduced by an anime character, the poor dear.
I have been playing so much minecraft with Lex (younger sibling) that it’s actually kind of impressive. Normally I get burned out on a world within a few days, but I’ve managed to play on our current one to the point where I couldn’t convince Lex to let me put off the whole “ender dragon” thing. I was dragged along to defeat “Her Majesty, The Tyrant Of The End” like a very disgruntled cat on a leash: I just want to build farms and trade with villagers. Let me live my small town farm dreams. (The fact that I got a cat early in the game in this world definitely contributed to my not-yet-being-burnt-out. Minecraft dogs are adorable but I’m used to losing them because they fight. Cats? Not so much.) I’ll show you guys some stuff I’ve done later: I don’t make masterpieces, but I’m happy with my work regardless.
I read an amazing Harry Potter fic recently that I think was recced to me by a friend (and that reminds me that I should let them know that I finished it). I’ve never been a big fan of Snape, especially after growing more attached to the idea of becoming a teacher, but Snape in this fic? Harry is like “yes he’s a jerk but also he’s my favorite teacher because ~Potions~” Draco becomes a friend: he doesn’t get a choice in the matter. Sirius is alive and this is Important to me. (A Harry Potter fix-it fic is what began my adventure into fanfiction, actually. A fic about an OC, Lupin’s daughter, who likes to knit with her wand. Lupin does not know for a while, I don’t think. I can’t remember when she—Eleanor?—figures it out. The love imbued in her crafts gives people a one-time defense against the killing curse. It wasn’t the first fic I read, that was probably pjo and I was very careful about not revealing my presence on fan websites to family members, but it was recced to me by my older sister back when I was 8 or so and I asked her for the title about a year after joining Wattpad, which I did almost immediately after getting that rec) I will share the fic link soon, my dear friends, but I have more to say first
I finished a coloring page I was working on digitally, and I think it looks nice! I’ll show you guys soon, but I’m thinking I might add some lighting effects first—I shaded the lady in the picture with no clear direction for the light source because it was easier to think about at first. I think I planned to add a specific light direction after getting all of the details down, so that’s what I’m going to do! And then I’ll show you, of course.
I am planning on attempting to turn my closet space into an office space (my room was originally supposed to be two rooms, so the closet space is actually big enough to do this if I take some stuff out)
I got caught up on Lore Olympus! Love that story.
I’m attempting to draw some patches for a friends jacket: I warned him that I’m really not that great of an artist, but he doesnt appear to care so flowers it is
#Red’s projects#Life Update!#Hi I’m alive#I probably still will not be very active until june 9th/10th or so (when my term ends)#but I figured I’d say hi since I have some things to share

No one:
Me, every time I hear a car go past: packidge???
#i have two packages coming today :)#one is the stuff i ordered at 5am yesterday morning when i couldn’t get back to sleep#(i don’t have amazon prime but for some reason even when i select free standard delivery the stuff seems to arrive next day. idk why)#it’s some bath stuff that they never have in my local supermarket (my favourite leave-in conditioner & facial scrub); a pencil case#which i plan to use for all my knitting stuff so i don’t lose it#and also some sponges to get to the £20 minimum for free delivery#the other package is from lovecrafts <3 and it’s 6 pairs of circular knitting needles#which sounds excessive i know#basically: i lost my 40cm 4mm circular needle & i’m making my friend’s baby a hat that needs that needle size#i’m also planning on making myself a jumper so four of the needles are for that#and the other one is a 100cm 4mm circular needle because my existing one is wood & the cable is crap#so whenever i make baby blankets and stuff with it i just have a horrible time#i’m not expecting to make any baby blankets anytime soon but you never know#it’ll also probably be useful for doing magic loop on my sweater sleeves. the longer the cable the better for magic loop in my experience#i mean if you’re making socks they don’t need to be That long but sleeves…… yeah#i could also do the hat in magic loop w/ that needle if i feel like it. i probably will when i get to the decreases#tl;dr i really need to stop buying shit. in my defence i did need this stuff#i also have a package on the way from pure pens and i Definitely don’t need that#i’m just using it to motivate myself to finish my dissertation. i’m not allowed to open it until i hit word count. even though i already#know what’s in it it will kill me#personal

you sat at the gryffindor table with wondering eyes, trying to find where your boyfriends could be as you nibbled on a piece of toast.
they’d usually meet you at breakfast, remus being the first one up, followed by james and then some time later sirius.
but when they never came, your stomach dropped and your mood soured. this was the third time they’ve skipped out on breakfast, and you couldn’t help but think that maybe this was your fault.
the boys loved to eat, no matter how busy or stressed they were, they would always join you for a quick snack.
but not recently.
recently you’ve felt like they’ve been avoiding you.
it was a crazy and paranoid thought, but these past few days have just been proving your suspicion.
“james!” you called out, the speckled boy snapping his head towards you with wide eyes, he looked just like a dear in the headlights.
you made your way through the sea of students, pushing lightly past students to get to the boy.
“hi jamesie” you smiled once you finally got to him, your arms wrapping around his torso out of instinct.
“h-hi” he stutter out, your eyebrows knitting together at his voice change. james never stuttered, unless he was hiding something.
“what’s wrong?”
“i just, havetogo” he rushed out, your arms dropping from his waist as he spun on his heel and walked off.
now you really felt like shit. why was he so jumpy? why was he so nervous? especially around you.
you couldn’t help but think back to the last time you hung out with the boys, the three of them fucking you in a broom closet after classes.
your stomach seemed to sink, not flutter when you thought about your last interaction with them. usually you’d be flustered, a little giggly maybe, but you just felt disgusted.
did you do something wrong during that intimate moment? maybe you did something they didn’t like, or said something that turned them off.
oh my god, did you turn them off? were they no longer attracted to you? is that why james tensed up when you hugged him?
you hadn’t realized you were crying until you felt your face get wet, your hands quickly and aggressively wiping under your eyes.
you didn’t want to jump to conclusions, and decide right there and then that the boys didn’t love you anymore. but it was hard, hard to see anything other than that.
throughout the day you kept yourself busy, going to your dorm to eat and hiding in the library to do your work—not like anyone was looking for you anyways.
“i saw her go in just minutes ago!” sirius whisper shouted, the boys standing outside your door debating on what to do.
they saw you brush past them in the common room without saying a word, no kisses or hugs, no anything.
which was extremely unusual of you. you were always affectionate with them, asking them how their days were while cuddling them in bed, something the boys loved and always looked forward too.
“are you sure?” james asked, sirius thumping him up side the head with a scowl, “of course i am!”
“sirius! knock it off” remus scolded, your boys bickering back and forth with each other—only waking you from your nap.
“i’m going to go in, stay here and don’t kill each other.”
you quickly turned on your side and closed your eyes, pretending you were asleep to avoid any type of interaction.
the door creaked open slowly, making you cringe to yourself as footsteps entered the room.
“y/n? love, are you awake?” remus’s soft voice spoke, the door closing behind him as he made his way over to the bed.
“pup, i know when you’re sleeping” he said, the mattress dipping as a hand cupped the side of your face.
“i’m sleeping” you mumbled, sarcasm laced in your words as you turned to stuff your face in the pillow.
remus’s face twisted in confusion, surprised by your sudden attitude towards him. you never acted like that towards him. james? somethings if he got on your nerves but it was rare. sirius? all the time.
but you never dared to with remus. he was the more gentle and soft one of the three boys, always giving you the opportunity to explain yourself and tell him what’s going on.
“what’s the problem, pup? why the attitude?” he asked, not wanting his temper to get the best of him.
something was obviously bothering you, he needed to comfort you, not snap at you for the way you were talking to him.
“do you love me anymore?”
your voice was muffled by the pillow but remus could hear you clearly, his heart dropping as soon as those words had left your mouth.
“do i love you anymore?! of course i do, i’ve never stopped. what made you think i didn’t?”
his hand dropped to your arm, urging you to look at him. but when you did, his stomach dropped when he saw the tears clouding your glossy eyes.
“oh baby” he cooed, not wasting anytime in bringing you into a much needed hug, his warming embrace comforting you immediately, “don’t cry, darling. just tell me what’s been on that pretty little mind of yours, tell me how i can help.”
“you’ll think i’m stupid...” you mumbled, hiding your face in his chest as wet tears stained his school shirt.
“you aren’t stupid, puppy. and neither are your feelings” he assured, his large hand resting on the small of your back while the other stroked your hair, something that always calmed you.
“i just...i-i thought you fell out of love with me because you’ve been avoiding me. not intentionally i guess, but james was definitely odd with me, l-like he didn’t want to be around m-me” your voice cracked, the thought of your boys not loving you back clouding your thoughts.
remus sighed lowly after your mini rant, your heart clenching as you couldn’t help but look up at him.
“w-what?” you asked, really not wanting to know what he had to say, as you only feared for the worst.
“james wants to be around you, everyone does. but i told him to stay away” he said, your eyebrows knitting together as your mouth opened slightly, but remus had cut you off, “you know jamesie can’t keep a secret for the life of him.”
“mhm” you nodded, “b-but what secret?”
“our anniversary is coming up—me, padfoot and prongs wanted to surprise you with a nice, relaxing dinner in the astronomy tower. i just didn’t want james accidentally ruining the surprise—but, i guess i just did that, didn’t i?” remus laughed to himself, his explanation making your heart swell but break at the same time.
they were planning a dinner for you? you felt like shit, instead of letting them do their thing without question, you assumed the worst. you assumed they didn’t love you anymore and were only using you for one thing, sex.
“i’m sorry, remus” you whispered, his eyes widening as he quickly comforted you. “no, pup. you have no reason to be sorry.”
“b-but i-”
“did nothing wrong. you had every right to get upset, i should’ve taped prongs mouth shut instead of keep him away” he said, half joking as you giggled stiffly.
“so...you aren’t mad?” you asked, your boyfriend tucking a piece of lose hair behind your ear before kissing the tip of your nose.
“i could never be mad at you, pup. i love you so much.”
“i love you too, remus” you smiled, cuddling into his chest as he hugged you tightly.
“can we come in now?”
“almost forgot about those knuckle heads” remus mumbled, another giggle leaving your lips as your two boys entered the room.
“everything okay in here, pup?” james asked, a pout on his face when he noticed the tears stained into your cheeks.
“now it is” you smiled assuringly, ushering for him to join you along with sirius.
“although i think you look hot covered in tears, i don’t like you feeling unloved” sirius said, speaking up as he sat next to you, his hand column to on your back.
“i never said unloved...just-”
“hey, it was only a few days” remus cut off, the pad of his thumb running under your eye softly, “but i promise you we’ll do everything for you to feel included. even if that involves planning a date for our girl.”
“which, just by the way, i didn’t spoil this time!” james pointed out, a smile on your face as remus shoved him playfully.
“you all owe me kisses from the last three days” you said, turning around in remus’s lap so you could toss your legs over sirius’s thighs, a warm smile on his face.
“we’ll do more than that, pup. don’t you worry.”

‘We Planned Too Far Ahead’
A year ago today was the day Tommy and Techno took Connor hostage in order to get back Techno’s stuff from L’Manberg, which means it’s also the anniversary of that chaotic moment Tommy & Tubbo reunited for the first time since exile. Back in the summer, while watching some geese attack a child for bread, I was like ‘hey what if I wrote a fic about Clingy Duo Christmas jumpers? and made it sad??’ then I wrote it and forgot I had it ‘till this morning. Oh, also, Thalia makes a cameo.
(you can also read this on my ao3: painless_and_colourful)
---
"Green and red? That's very festive."
The shopkeeper either missed their shared smirk or chose to ignore it, moving deeper into the racks. "Hold on- Thalia said she had something specially made for you. I'll just go get them." "Ah, Thalia." Tommy leant on a nearby rack and then immediately sprang back when it nearly collapsed under his weight. Tubbo suppressed a giggle. "She sure keeps us all in fashion." He said as he steadied himself again. Tubbo indicated Tommy's shirt by playfully tugging on it. "Or something. Won't you just try the uniform?" Tommy shifted foot to foot, pulling his 'I Don't Like This Topic' face. "Y'know..." Tubbo nodded, joining in with him when he said: "I'm not a big fan of men in suits."
Tubbo sighed. "No points for style. Still, at least you wear a shirt." Tommy snorted. "Ah, yes. How long, on average, did it take for Big Q to lose his shirt at cabinet meetings?" "Eight and a half minutes," Tubbo grumbled immediately. "No fond memories of the Schlatt administration then?" Tubbo gave him a pointed look. "I think you know the answer to that."
Just then, the shopkeeper returned, two brown paper packages in hand. "Here. She knew you'd be coming." "She usually does," Tubbo said with a smile. The two boys unwrapped the packages, revealing two Christmas jumpers, one red with green details, and one green with red. They both had a snowman on the front facing different directions, and the borders were decorated with multi-coloured Christmas lights. Tubbo beamed at his, "I didn't know Thalia knitted!" The shopkeeper just laughed. "She's a woman of many talents. I'll leave you to it."
By the time she was gone, Tubbo had already put his on over his shirt - sometimes you go straight from work to Christmas jumper shopping. It fit pretty perfectly, as expected (Thalia has their measurements memorised, and if not, written down). Tubbo expected to see the same when he looked at Tommy, but his companion was giving his jumper a suspicious once over, like it was about to accuse him of arson. "What's up?" He looked up, and Tubbo could tell exactly what he was about to say. "Really?" "Put it on." "Reeeeeally?" "Put the jumper on Tommy." "Do I have to?"
Tubbo leaned closer, making a mockery of their melodrama. "If you don't wear a Christmas jumper to the work Christmas party, so help me I'll- I'll demote you." "No." "To below Fundy." "No! Alright, alright!" They both fell into a round of laughter as Tommy pulled the jumper over his head. As with Tubbo, it fit him snugly, and he stared hard at his reflection in a nearby mirror. "It's alriiiight." "It looks good on you." "So does yours- Actually-" Tommy chuckled as he adjusted the neckline of his. "It's pretty convenient our colours are so Christmassy."
"Are they alright?" Said a familiar voice behind them, and the two boys turned to see Thalia, supreme tailor of the SMP, standing with her arms folded over a roll of fabric that reminded Tubbo of Manberg wallpaper. "Ayyye, it's the woman of the hour!" She laughed at Tommy's cheering. "What hour is it? I've been sewing for about twelve. I think." "Give yourself a break Thalia, they're perfect, aren't they Tommy." Tubbo elbowed his vice. "Yeah, they're, uh, great." He snorted at Tubbo mouthing something about promoting Fundy. "They're fantastic. Thanks, Thalia." "Just make sure you enjoy yourselves at that do, okay? And save us a seat!" She called, walking away to the back of the shop. "You know you're always welcome in L'Manberg!" Tubbo called back. "I know!"
"When is the Christmas party?" Tommy asked as they moved towards the counter to pay, shrugging his jumper off and haphazardly folding it. "The L'Manberg one or the cabinet one?" "Both." Tubbo chuckle-sighed. "The cabinet one's on the 23rd. And Christmas is Christmas." "Right. Hold on... You're telling me I have to wear this thing twice?" Tubbo laughed all the way back to L'Manberg.
They showed their jumpers to Phil when he asked them where they'd been on that chilly early December morning. They showed Ghostbur and Fundy too, since they were nearby. Ghostbur squealed in delight seeing them matching, and Tubbo figured if he could get Ghostbur to be present at the parties, he might just get Tommy in a Christmas jumper out in public after all.
If Fundy had remembered that day later in the month, he didn't say anything. And with Phil gone and Ghostbur missing in action, no one knew when they saw Tubbo that he wasn't wearing the right jumper.
It was a size too big in the arms and baggy on the sides, but he saw that as a plus. On the days where he wanted nothing more than to stay in his room weeping, the jumper gave him somewhere to hide. He'd curl his fingers around the extra length of the sleeves and imagine it was Tommy's hand.
And no one else knew.
Until one late night. He'll admit, he had been drinking the evening before, but it was still technically Christmas, and he had good reason. And he was the President, so it wasn't like anyone could tell him no. He'd only been asleep a couple of hours, and he couldn't quite tell if he was still drunk or hungover when he was awoken by a sharp knocking on the door of his bedroom/office in the government building. "Mr President?" Was that Ranboo? What in the world did he want?
"Mr- Oh- screw it- Tubbo? Tubbo wake up." He kicked at the duvet and connected instead with a table leg - he'd fallen asleep at his desk and in his clothes, no less. "Yeah-?" He staggered to the door, commanding his sleep-addled brain and limbs 'up, go, that direction'. "What is it?" He opened the door to see the half-enderman half-whatever-he-was, looking like he'd been up half the night, wringing his hands anxiously. "Ah! Sir! Um- There's a bit of a situation, in- just outside L'Manberg. They're asking for authorities-" He found himself jogging a little to keep up with Tubbo, who'd just taken off down the corridor towards the exit. "Where?" "By the apiary- S-Sir!" He whirled around at the top of the stairs. "What?" "You, um- You're wearing a Santa hat, Tubbo."
He snatched the stupid thing off his head (Prime only knows how it had stayed in place while he was asleep) and threw it to the floor. "Is it urgent?" "Um, yeah, but-" "Then this'll have to do."
Yes, he was wearing a Christmas jumper and jeans and not his usual suit. Yes, he was about to walk into a serious situation. And yes, he was the President, and if his presence couldn't communicate that then the suit wouldn't make much difference.
Across the boards of the highways, through the snow, between the camarvan and the new apiary. He was glad for the warmth from the jumper (only half wishing he'd kept the hat on), curling his fingers into the sleeves, searching for Tommy's presence that he had tried to call on since finding his method of suicide over a week ago. He'd been afraid at first of Tommy's ghost appearing, but with the passage of time, Tubbo felt more and more alone, and he longed to see his friend again, in whatever form. He rounded the corner, and curse the stars in the sky, curse the snow on the ground and may this be a warning against wishing for something in case it comes true, because speak of the bloody devil, there's Tommy.
There's Tommy, standing next to Technoblade. There's Tommy, with a hostage at his side and a harsh expression on his face. There's Tommy, looking a bit worse for wear but warm and healthy and oh Prime, alive. He's alive. Technoblade smirks as Tubbo rounds the corner because yes, here's the president in a Christmas jumper, but Tommy's expression suddenly slips as he gives Tubbo a once-over, and his mouth falls open slightly as he mouths:
"That's mine."
'Yeah,' Tubbo thinks, watching as Tommy digests the fact that Tubbo's wearing his jumper, looking him in the eyes for a split second. And then he looks at Techno, and his face reverts to aggressive like it was before.
'Yeah, it is.'

Staying at the Burrow with your boyfriend Fred Weasley...
- Fred loathed his time away from Hogwarts on any break that you weren’t with him
- Since the Christmas of your fourth year, it has become a sort of tradition for you to going your boyfriend and his family for the holidays
- And if you would even suggest a change in plans, Fred would beg you otherwise
- “Y/n pleaseeee, angel? I already told my mum that you’re coming, and she already started knitting! You’ll break her heart!” “Okay fine, I’ll come but only for Molly.”
- It means the absolute world to Fred that you love his family and that his family loves you
- Ginny would await your arrival by the front door, practically buzzing with excitement
- Every time you visit the Burrow, you make sure to bring gifts for his family
- Your favorite person to give presents to is Arthur
- You always bring him some new muggle object that never fail to fascinate him
- “Oh, Molly! Y/n’s here- ooh I wonder what she’s brought for me this time! I hope it’s one of those clicky writers!” “You mean a pen, dear.” “Yes, yes, Molly, a pem!” “Arthur, no-“
- Most breaks Harry would also tag along which meant more players for your quidditch games
- Fred and George were usually team captain
- Fred always picked you first for his team
- Unless George got to pick first
- He would pick you just in spite of Fred, which usually caused petty bickering between the twins
- “Bloody hell, George! You pinky promised me you wouldn’t pick Y/n! You said I could have her-“ “Freddie, you spend almost 24 hours a day with her. She’s just on my team for one game!”
- George would playfully torture you two during the whole break with comments here and there
- “Hey dad, I saw Fred sneak Y/n into our room last night.” “George!” “…let’s just not tell your mother, understood?”
- Doing the dishes with Fred and having a bubble fight
- George wasn’t lying tho
- Fred would sneak you into his room almost every night
- Molly had caught you two a few times but she never brought it up
- Fred was nearly 18 and Molly absolutely adored you
- So she’d smile to herself and pretend she never saw a thing
- Going on walks with Ron and Harry
- A lot of cute little moments with Fred
- Like him giving you his sweater when you get cold at night
- He likes to draw pictures on your back when you’re cuddling as you try to guess what it is
- “Uh… I’m not sure, is it a flower?” “No, angel. It was an owl! Okay now guess this one…”
- George would constantly whisper shout at the two of you when he’s trying to sleep
- “Can you lovesick puppies shut up! Some of us are single and would rather be miserable in peace. I can’t handle all the cute lovey whispers, it’s bloody sickening! I’m ready to share a bed with Percy- that’s how bad it is.”
- This would cause Fred and yourself to erupt with laughter much to George’s displeasure
- Sneaking around the house to have some *cough* private time
- Making out in his backyard
- Fred doesn’t like when you go for walks alone outside the house
- Times are tense and you’re the last person, besides a family member, that he could afford to lose
- He’ll always walk by your side and crack jokes just so he can hear you laugh
- Whether he realizes it or not, whenever you two go walking together Fred will always hold your hand and swing it back and forth
- He loves kissing your knuckles and the back of your hand
- He’s honestly so sweet when he’s not putting 24 hour color changing hair dye in your shampoo
- You’ve spent so many Christmas’ at the Weasley’s that Molly has a stocking for you and a gift ready every time
- Fred purposely places mistletoes around the house for you two to ‘conveniently’ meet under
- “Fred! You know I’m your girlfriend so you can kiss me whenever, right?” “But this is more romantic, darling! You’re the first girl I’ve ever kissed under a mistletoe- and the only, and last girl I want to kiss for my whole life. I’d like to continue that tradition.” “Well how can I say no to that?”
- Fred will literally take any chance offered to kiss you
- George loves to annoy the two of you by squeezing in the middle of your cuddles
- “George! You git, get out of here!” “But I need some love too!” “Yeah, find it with a girl who isn’t my girlfriend!”
- Fred will make you coffee or tea each morning, whichever you prefer
- Making hot chocolate together for the whole family during winters at the Burrow
- Marshmallow mustaches
- You kiss the marshmallows off Fred’s mouth, running your tongue along his upper lips which causes a deep scarlet blush to slap his cheeks
- “How do you like it when the tables are turned, Fred?” “I quite like it actually… that was hot.” “Fred!”
- During winter, you guys will have snowball fights outside with all the Weasley siblings plus Harry, and Hermione
- You and Fred have a competition on who can make the biggest snow man
- Your relationship is built off humor, friendship, and love so there is not a day that passes by where tears aren’t pouring from your eyes out of laughter
- Fred likes to wake you up by jumping on you and attacking your face with little pecks
- “Wake up, angel! I’ve been waiting ten minutes for you to get up but I couldn’t wait any longer now c’mon!”
- Fred loves to watch you get ready for the day
- Oddly enough, his favorite part is your makeup routine (if you wear any)
- It’s such a foreign world to him, he’s amazed by all the different products and how you can tell them all apart
- “Freddie, baby, can you hand me my mascara?” “Uh... sure?”
- Hands you your concealer
- He just wants to help!
- He teaches you how to ice skate out on the pond
- Loves kissing your frozen red cheeks when you two come inside after being in the snow
- Will boop your nose
- You spend a lot of time with Ginny on breaks
- She looks up to you greatly, so she gets so excited when you stay with the Weasley’s
- “Y/n, Y/n, you’re here! Come, put your stuff in my room! We can have a sleepover-“ “Wow, Ginny, hadn’t realized Y/n was your girlfriend and not mine.” “Shut up, Fred.”
- You help Fred and George play pranks on differently family members
- Molly is typically the only one that is immune from these pranks
- All three of you are far too terrified to make her angry
- You will often rummage through Fred’s closet instead of opening your suitcase
- And when he catches you in the act
- Fred will chase you around the house
- “That’s my jumper! Oh you’re in for it, Y/l/n!”
- Some days at the Burrow, Fred and you barely get out of bed
- Especially on rainy days
- The sound of raindrops pounding against the roof of the house was comforting, the warm embrace of Fred had that effect on its own even without the rain
- Maybe once a trip, you guys will take the car into town
- It’s a bit of a drive so the Weasley’s don’t like to make more trips than necessary
- Molly refuses to hand the keys to either of the twins and will only give them to you
- She doesn’t trust the twins not the wreck the car
- Every trip to the Burrow, you find yourself growing closer to your boyfriend
- You spend every day together at school, but being outside of the castle is a little different
- You have more freedom, more choices
- It makes the both of you thrilled about graduating and moving in together
- Fred can’t wait for the day he is able to spend every day with you by his side

Per-Heat: BTS Wolf Pack Au
Summary:Per-heat nesting, heats, rutts, marks oh my
Pariring: Werewolf BTS OT7 x Werewolf Reader
Warning: A slightly smutty segment of my previous Wolf Pack Poly Au, Three words, and Devil Book! There will be more parts to this, I just didn't want to make it to long!
The first and only matting mark you have at the moment was Namjoons, it was after the hunters had attacked you. He hated how long it took them to find you, no bound only instinct, and he and the others felt that much closer to losing you. So he marked you, it wasn’t as romantic as he had hoped, you were just in his lap, eyes full of trust and love and then he bit down at the junken of your neck and shoulder, your mark soon completing the artwork on his neck. From that day forward you felt a stronger connection to him, emotions being able to feel and read within a second. Physically the pull felt like tons against you till his arms were wrapped around you, lips brushing against your mark. He was also the only one you had matted too, knotting you during your first heat spent with them. Even though the other Omegas wanted to come in and help with the pain of a first knot, you couldn’t seem to muster up the courage to let them see your valuable side. Namjoon was more than enough at the time. It wasn’t that you didn’t love them, didn’t trust them to bed you, it just you didn’t know if you could trust your omega side. She was vulnerable, weak even. She wanted to be babied, she wanted to be loved and taken care of. She felt like she could just melt against people. She was totally different compared to you, Namjoon had even commented on it after your heat. His body pressed against your tired and sore one, eyes full of love as he talked about how vulnerable you were and it made you want to curl up in a ball and hide. To run. But he didn’t let you.
So when your Omega started pushing further and further into your headspace, you went to the nesting room. Your eyes scan the wall to wall filled with mattresses, furs, pillows and blankets, your eyes scan the small furniture around, a side table to help provide light, and a mini fridge that was usually full of water for the matting sessions. Your eyes widen as you smell mainly Namjoon and Jin, who was in heat two weeks before. And even though you loved their smells, you need more, you need the rest of them. Letting out a huff, your turn on your heel, passing by Jungkook on the way to Jimins room. His eyes watching you as you stomped up the stairs making him chuckle as he took a deep breath in, your sweet alluring smell making his eyes blow out as he let out a groan.
“She’s gonna be the death of us I swear.” You hear him mumble, making your giggle as you skip up the steps, making his smile grow as he follows after you. Your body pushing through Jimin's room, him and Hoseok making out on his bed making them both squeal as you moved to Jimin's closet.
“You guys can keep going..wait can I take one of your pillows Hobi?” You asked, making both of their eyes blow out as they take a deep breath in. You watch the beta nod, as you snag a large sweater of Jimins and you leave the room, but before you do you look at them and smirk. “You’re both hard. Have fun.” You teased, making Jimin let out a high pitched whine as the smell of slick made your eyes brighten as you giggled moving to Hoseok's room and snagging a pillow. Jungkook is waiting for you outside Hoseok room with a comforter of his in hand making your chirp in excitement as you nod to Yoongi rooms. Since you had eyed his neck a few weeks ago it’s been a bit tense between the two of you, so you pause at his door, your eyes clouding with worry as your omega plays every rejection like moment between the two of you. Another whine, and a turn on your heel having Jungkook frowning as you looked at him, your omega slipping. “Scared mate no want.” You mumbled softly making Jungkook sigh as he nodded, his eyes staring at you as he moved and pressed his nose against yours making you smile.
“Let's get the other scents, put their stuff in the nest and then we can get something of his, okay omega?” his words were soft, no sign of his alpha wolf behind them which soothed you slightly. Smiling brightly you nod, move away from your dark aura of a mates room, though he was the hardest one to read out of the seven of them. Sighing, you move to Taehyung's bedroom, the Beta sitting at his desk, a pencil moving as you hand jungkook the pillow and sweater. Moving onto his bed you move it around your eyes widen at the sight of a wolf toy that he slept with, you hear the swivl of his chair and a chuckle.
“Preheat?” His question pointed to Jungkook and you snag the stuffed wolf and smile brightly at Taehyung. His laughter grows as you nuzzle your nose into the toy, joy spreading through his and Jungkook's chest as you move to crawl into his lap. His surprised laugh had you smiling as you pressed the top to his chest. “You are adorable like this, she wasn’t like this last time was she?” he asks Jungkook, making him shake his head, the memory of the pain of you asking Namjoon to grab their things as you got the nest prepared instead of grabbing them yourself. It hurt knowing you didn’t trust all of them those months ago, it hurt not being able to enjoy your soft side. But they were patient, hoping that one day you’d be doing what you're doing today. Being vulnerable. “Hmmm she really is like a pup, like Namjoon hyung said.” he giggled as you chirp, pressing a kiss to his lips as you pull away and smiley a toothy smile.
“Thank you for the toy, Tae!” You said getting off of his lap and moving to Namjoons room, but before you push open the door it is swinging open with a smiling Alpha. His eyes shining as he lets you in, Jungkook letting out a huff as you place the stuffed wolf onto the pile of things.
“She's got you on carrying duty?” Namjoon chuckles as you move around his room, your eyes roaming for something when a scarf caught your eyes making your fingers touch the soft knitted thing. Your eyes turning to him as he nods, your eyes snatching it and placing it in the pile. “Does omega want me to help this heat as well?” His question was as soft as he cupped your cheek making your lean into it as you moved your lips to press against the top of his wrist.
“Not sure yet...love you.” You mumbled, making him smile as he brought you to his chest and rocked you back and forth, making you giggle as you pulled away and pressed a kiss to his lips making his eyes close as he stood there slightly frozen.
“Like I said earlier, you're gonna be the death of us.” Jungkok giggled as you moved out of the room, leaving a frozen Namjoon behind. A giggle left your lips as you entered Jin's room, the Omega nowhere in sight ,making you slightly frown, but shake it off as you grab a shirt from the top of his bed. Pressing it to your face as you nod at your youngest Alpha, his eyes shining as he follows you down the stairs. Smiling as you see Jin on the couch, a book in hand you see his eyes widen as he sees Jungkook slightly struggling to see over the pile of things you’ve collected. He lets out a laugh as you pass to the nesting room, stopping Jungkook before he comes too deep into the nest to ruin your already started maneuvering of the nest. Placing Jin's shirt on a pillow you move and grab the pile and dump it on a mattress turning to Jungkook. You smile, but it lessens when you don’t smell Yoongi. Reminding you of the need to ask him.
“I’m gonna get Yoongis...can..can you make me some food Kookie?” You question had him nodding rapidly as he rushed out of the room as you took a deep breath in and moved out of the nesting room. Moving back up the stairs you stand outside his door once again, letting out a soft whine you knock, leading to the sound of shuffling around and then the door opens. Yoongi stood there, a sadness in his eyes as he looked at you.
“What? You were here earlier and left, so clearly you are only doing this to appease the others.” His words felt like daggers to your chest as you shook your head rapidly as you pushed yourself to his chest, arms falling around his waist as he stumbled back.
“No. No. No. I love you. I was worried you wouldn’t want me to have anything as I waited. I love your smell. I love you. I want you to mate with me during this heat.” You stumbled out, your world tumbling out faster than planned, the last part making him cough as he pushed you back and sat on his bed. Your body falls into his lap as you press your forehead against his, making him huff, as his hands fall on to the top of your thighs. “I’ve been sitting on it for a few weeks. I love everybody so much, I feel safe with everyone. But I..I felt this pull to mate with you since you showed me how vulnerable you could be.” You pause as one of his hands moves to cup your cheek making you almost purr as your smile at him.
“Are you sure? Namjoon would be wil-”
“I know, all six of them would be willing. But I want you..want to nest with you, want to mate with you. Want to be marked by you.” Your words had his eyes blow out as a growl passed his lips, his hand on your thigh tightening as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath in.
“I want it too. I just don’t want to push your boundaries, I wanted you to come to me.”
“Come on then let's make the nest!” You said excitedly as you get off his lap and grab his hand pulling him down with you. You see Namjoon and Jin sitting on the couch as Jungkook stood there with a plate making you paus as you smile. Steak and rice with some fruit made you smile brightly as Yoongi pressed his chest to your back, Jungkook slightly frowning at the realization he wasn’t gonna be allowed inside the nest with you. But he shakes it off when you press a kiss to his lips, Yoongi follows, making the younger Alpha blush bright red as you move to sit down at the counter.
“So Yoongi is gonna spend your heat with you?” Jungkook asked as Yoongi started to scoop the food, and feed it to you making you let out purrs.
“Yes..and maybe depending on how it's going my omegas can come in.” Your words had Jin letting out a whine at the thought, the thought of being able to curl around you body and bound. To maybe get a taste of your slick as Yoongi was knot deep inside of you. The thought alone was making his dick hard and slick run down.
“Only if she’s sure, Jin.” Namjoon said, pressing a hand on top of his neck as he pressed a kiss to the side of his head. Jin let out a huff as he nodded, only for you to look at him and reach a hand out to him, making him jump up and rush to your side. His nose instantly nuzzling into your neck making a purr like sounds once more as your fingers move to lace with his.
“Love you. Love omega.” Jin mumbled into her neck, making you chuckle as you squeeze his hand some more as Yoongi fed him a piece of food as well making Jin let out a purr. “Love alpha.” his words were soft and mumbled as you smell Taehyung and Jimin come down stars. Jimin seeing the omega pile made him whine as he rushed over to the two of you making you giggle as he maneuvered himself around to stand between your legs.
“Omega pile.” Jimin mumbled, making you smile as you kissed his neck, making him shiver as Yoongi and the other alphas and betas in the room beam at the three of their omegas. Joon is greeted by the youngest Alpha sitting in his lap as Hoseok and Taehyung sit against the couch. “Smell nice.” Jimin mumbled, making you giggle as you pull back and look at Yoongi.
“Nest.” You mumble, making him nod as you push away from your omega mates, making the two cling to one another as you hear Jin repeat your words to Jimin, making the younger let out a loud drawn out whine. “Nest.” You mumble as you drag Yoongi till you drop his hand and drop onto the mattress kneading at things and folding stuff up as you let out drawn out purrs. Your eyes look back to see the oldest alpha hanging back making you reach your hand out making him fall next to you. Trying his best to stay out of your way as you build the wide pile of blankets and your favorite fur that Namjoon had gotten at the top to rest against while you sleep his scarf on top as you move around and nuzzle into it. Being done with the nest for now you patt next to you as Yoongi laid next to you, his hand falling onto your hips as you moved and pushed a kiss to his lips.
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”

Hey, I vicariously live in my imagination to escape from the reality.
So, I have been wondering about the Rogues reaction to Tony defeating thanos, the IronSmaug, taking over the world etc...
Have a go at it, if you are interested.
It's also fine if you dont.
thanks, I really, really needed the distraction. it's been. an interesting week. not in a good way.
.
tbh, the whole 'what does Team Cap think about this mess?' thing in TWiFFON is...something I had originally been torn about, and everything that's been happening ever since means I keep finding myself going "do I have the energy to tackle this? lol no".
For some context, because you probably know my stance on this sort of thing but I prefer redundancy just to make sure we're on the same page: once upon a time, I honestly, genuinely did like the Avengers. All of them, and yes, that included Wanda [...for less than an hour, but still].
Back when I still had faith in the writers, I was constantly going "...okay, so when are these guys going to stop acting so OOC? Where tf are they planning on taking these character arcs?" and just being disappointed at each turn— but I stuck around because I liked the potential. Steve "what do you mean punching fascists isn't cool anymore?" Rogers, Natasha "my past is a tire fire and I'll just leave it at that" Romanov, Clint "where's Loki? Let me at him!" Barton and the rest of the group had their good points, and I gave myself a headache trying to figure out wtf was their thought process when the time came for them to do their thing in TWiFFON.
It wasn't fun, I only did it because it was absolutely necessary... and I still ended up receiving complaints.
Look: for me, character bashing is exhausting. I have enough going down in my life that I don't have any interest in writing it, and over the past few years I've seen more than one of the fandoms I follow/lurk in become salt mines that have me going "...okay, if you hate it so much, why are you even here?"
When I write, I try my best to emphasize the 'actions have consequences' thing I learned long before I hit puberty; but that doesn't mean I'm up for anything beyond that. Again, I used to like these characters, so seeing the levels of suffering canon— and some writers— put them through just has me stepping back for a moment.
But TWiFFON attracted a lot of people who were pretty far out there in terms of what they wanted, some of whom got very very pissy when it wasn't the story I wanted to write, which is...probably like 99% of the reason I'm still burned out on that AU. Apart from the recent personal life bs that means I am Not Up To Dealing With any hypothetical rando that shows up in my inbox, because normally I could not care less about what people think but my energy levels are. Um. Not great atm. Not sure I wouldn't bite anyone's head off if they wanted to start something right now, tbh, or just ragequit writing for a while because I have way better things to do with my time than deal with random internet assholes.
...apologies for the tangent, but now you know why that situation is one I'm normally kinda reluctant on tackling.
As for what I'd originally headcanoned:
Back before things hit the fan, I'd originally planned to have some little interlude snippets of what Team Cap's been dealing with. Mostly, it would've forced them to acknowledge that for all none of them liked or trusted Tony, he was basically just the personification of what the rest of the world thought of them.
Nobody respects them, anymore, or trusts them; Clint'd be in very hot water and sleeping on the couch for a while, and Hank Pym would never let Scott hear the end of his involvement in this whole thing because Hank hates the Stark name and the English language cannot concisely articulate just how pissed off he was that he had to publicly thank Tony.
Team Cap overall would also start to fall apart at the seams as more and more stuff came out and ey, turns out the leader they'd trusted and broken international laws for had lied to them.
By omission, sure, but honestly— do you think that'd go down well? The "oh yeah, I've known my brainwashed friend killed his parents since DC but I am not going to tell him unless I'm forced to" thing?
I don't know about you, but I for one highly doubt Sam Wilson would be okay with that. Or Clint, for that matter, and the list goes on because the more time passes, the more stuff keeps coming out of the woodwork and for the first time in years, they're forced to deal with it.
One of the things I planned to include in the sidefic can basically be summed up as "the curious case of Bucky Barnes": that is to say, what'd happen after he's taken into custody, and poke lightly at the clusterfuck we're unpacking here. Tony, feeling bad for losing control in the bunker, would basically go "shit I fucked up but I also never want to see him again but he's an even bigger mess than I am, that's a whole lot to unpack so you know what? I'm just throwing out the suitcase entirely here, have all the resources for support and help and if I ever see you again, it'll be too soon".
...to sum up, it's messy af. SI Legal would feature heavily because his particular case means he needs a team of lawyers, what with the 'former POW who's trying to recover from All The Trauma' thing, and the 'so I literally was just trying to buy some damn groceries when you guys dragged me into this', and Tony basically went "hey, so if anyone wants to help him, uh, I kinda have some interest in this one. Fair warning, dude probably killed Kennedy while mind-controlled, with our luck".
And along the way, there'd also be some of that one subplot I'd cut due to pacing issues: specifically, the one dealing with prosthetics.
Remember how Miriam Sharpe said her son would never walk again? Yeah, we'd be revisiting that: her family'd get a letter or something inviting them for clinical trials, and meet Rhodey in passing as he's using his own leg braces to get around because he's still healing. Bucky would get a few design offers for a free replacement for his arm, and it'd probably end up being a collab with Wakanda because T'Challa feels bad for his role in that mess as well.
So Team Cap would be seeing this, seeing how everyone's acting and reacting, and the way one of their own is getting all the help and support Stark Industries has to offer and realizing that yeah, they messed up. Big time.
...depending on my salt levels and how close we're sticking to canon, I was thinking this'd go one of two ways.
Either they'd double down and just go "ugh, Tony is a supervillain and we can't do anything about it!" while TWiFFON marches on and then later go "...you mean he did it by accident?!", or...
Well, canon's proven character development and continuity isn't really in their writers' vocabulary. So my original idea of 'they're forced to deal with the reality of the situation, acknowledge they messed up and slowly move on with their lives' would've been very unrealistic.
Again, most of this is intentionally vague, I had not been keen to tackle that mess in TWiFFON in the first place and the way things exploded on me means I really, really don't have the energy to do so now. Not when there's far better things I could do with my time, like mess around with AUs where people actually get along, or knit, or— well, the list goes on.

kth | the day after valentine’s (m.)
Words: 4.5k Synopsis: Taehyung, your best friend, had asked you to come over to help him arrange his furniture after moving for the hundredth time. It’s the day after Valentine’s and all the getting laid stuff is over, right? Not for Taehyung. Also, who the hell buys condoms after Valentine’s day? Rating: 18+ Author’s Note: This is a messy drabble that I have no intention cleaning or editing. I wrote this at liek 2am so a lot of typo’s ahead y’all.
When you agreed to come over Taehyung's apartment, you thought he needed help with arranging the stuff that came from his moving van today. But no, your best friend's not the most truthful person you know.
He spreads across his dirty old couch, one he'd kept from his college dorm, wearing nothing but his basketball shorts that holds tight against his waist. Seven years since meeting him, he's done nothing to change his lifestyle. Every month, it's the same old scenario of him moving to another place after getting evicted for God knows how many times, and you watching him play a mobile game while you beg him to please start unpacking before a landlord sends him on his ass again.
"Let me finish this level, I'm so close." He looks for a second to study your reaction, annoyance painted clearly on your face.
You shrug, and your eyes dart over the cigarette pack that almost hides in one of his Goodwill boxes.
"I though you quit?"
Confused, Taehyung follows your eyes and he regrets in an instant bringing you here.
"I haven't had one in two months. I'm stressed lately."
Sighing, you try to understand. Taehyung's been on and off with cigars, he'd buy one in secret but sooner or later, you'd always find a lighter in his laundry when coming over. You advice him to keep his hand busy, and you'd even given him a bracelet that chimes. He removed it three months later and you never asked where he threw it away.
"Fuck," his finger swipes his screen as if he wanted to break it, "I almost got it!" he yelled.
He switches off his phone, now staring back at you. Your eyes fall, he's always intimidating. You couldn't blame him, you were always intimidated.
"What?" you croaked.
"What do you mean what? What's your plan?"
"My plan? Why do I have to make the plans?" Your fingers find the hem of your thin baby blue shirt.
"Because you're the smarter one. How do I arrange all my shit? You got any idea?"
"Taehyung, we've been doing this for ages. How come you still depend on me? There will come a day that I won't be here anymore and the only person you could depend on is yourself." Was it seeing the cigarettes that raised your voice, or remembering that he threw your handmade bracelet? You couldn't care less.
He was quiet. Then he opens his mouth, and he's quiet again.
"You sound like my mom," he says, meaning to tease you as if he hadn't used that for the hundredth time. "Was your date last night that bad? I told you you should come with Hoseok and I on Valentine's, we had an amazing night at Jungkook's crib."
There he goes again, ignorant of your troubles. Classic selfish Tae, the exact same one who stood you up on homecoming because he spent it having sex with Tilly Janes in his car. You're still upset about it, he didn't even think of going inside to give you at least a minute to dance with somebody on the dance floor.
"Mind telling me what happened? Did you get laid?"
"Do you ever think of maybe you shouldn't ask such inappropriate questions to someone?"
"Fine," almost tired in his tone.
And you spend a few more minutes in silence, guessing each other's thoughts with the way both your gaze lands on the floor. He clears his throat and forgets what he's about to say. You wish you didn't cancel your nail appointment today just to be with your best friend who still, in no surprise, doesn't have a single plan in his life.
Taehyung suggests he buys a stock from the grocery first, and when he says stock he means an awful lot of Oreo cookies and Lays. You agreed with him and he gets dressed, though the soles of your feet still hurt from walking in heels for three hours straight last night. If only you knew that Hyungwon would be bringing you to a walking spree, you wouldn't have worn a formal attire.
Taehyung spends his time choosing between peanut butter and double stuff. You tell him to pick the peanut butter one because you've never seen him finish the double stuff, he always throws the leftovers saying it was too sweet. He ignores your opinion and chooses the double stuff over the peanut butter.
He asks you again whether he should buy milk or pineapple juice instead, and you tell him to pick milk because whoever drinks pineapple is a monster. He nods in affirmation, commenting about how pineapple has a really weird aftertaste. And he brings the milk back to the shelf, putting the pineapple juice in the cart.
"You should dress like that." He points at a mannequin dressed in sportswear.
"You don't tell me what to wear, young man. I don't even jog."
"I'm just saying you'd look hotter." He scans you head to toe and your knees weaken a little.
He takes a route to the meat section, you already know why. He just wants to brag about being a vegan. Jungkook had convinced him last month to finally turn vegan, and he's been talking about it non-stop.
"I can't stand the smell of meat anymore, it's disgusting." He pinches his nose, wrinkles forming on his face.
"Okay, Mr. Vegan. We get it." You rolled your eyes.
"No, really. It's making me vomit," he says, nasally.
"Just make sure that once I cook chicken alfredo, your mouth wouldn't water."
Upon reaching the counter, Taehyung approaches the magazines and candy bars, leaving you in line.
What does he need this time?
And when you're up next in line, he comes back with a tight fist, hiding an item as he crosses his arms.
He thought he was sleek, but when he throws the condoms next to the Oreos, you couldn't help but laugh.
"You're buying condoms after Valentine's Day?" You throw your hand to your mouth, suppressing an uncontrollable laughter. "Did you run out last night or you're only getting laid today?" you added.
"Do you ever think of maybe you shouldn't ask such inappropriate questions to someone?"
You sighed. "But seriously, I know you wanna answer that question."
In the mood, you poke at his waist and he flinches like a worm. Taehyung was cocky, but he can be cute sometimes in ways he doesn't intend to.
"I ran out last night. Lucky you who don't need to buy another one since none of your dates ever pass your standards."
You couldn't point it out in what he said that made your heart throb, it felt a little offensive. Taehyung knows so much about you, it can get scary when he opens his mouth. What's he thinking right now? Cute little y/n, no one's ever good enough for her fragile heart. Cute little y/n, always finds a mistake in every part.
"That's not true, you know? I just don't settle that easily."
The corners of his lips lift, eyes rolling in disbelief. He was skinning you alive with that gaze, annoyed. He has a sarcastic smile sprawled all over his face, you just wanna punch it away.
On the way home, you thought about what he said for a second... For a while. You thought about it for a while. Was Taehyung right? Was his perception of you correct? Whatever it was, it did hurt. All you ever did for Taehyung was to be a good friend, and he gave nothing in return. You weren't expecting anything, but deep inside you knew Taehyung loves you just as much as you love him. But like every other person, insecurity gets in the way in relationships.
Maybe Taehyung doesn't even treat you as a friend.
No, you argued inside your head.
Sure, you've seen him in his most vulnerable moments. You've seen him break and you've seen him fall, you've seen him lose the inner parts of his soul. You've seen Taehyung happy, and you will always remember that specific laugh he lets out whenever he pretends something is funny. You know that he blinks when he curses because his body rejects it. He told you about his broken dream of becoming an astrologist, and you daydreamed together about the stars and the way they collide like magical dusts.
Maybe Taehyung doesn't know you like you know him.
Before the thought gets answered, Taehyung was already groaning as he puts the bags down to his counter. You had forgotten you arrived.
"We should start with your room. I'll place your clothes in your closet and you go arrange your miscellaneous."
He doesn't nod. Why won't he nod? God, please, Taehyung, just agree with me once.
He remains standing with both his hands on either sides of his waist and he does nothing else. Still standing feet away from you, just knitted brows and a stern expression that you couldn't read. What is it this time?
"How was it?" His arms cross on the buff his chest, waiting for a response as he tries to read your reaction the same way you're reading where he's coming from.
"How was what?"
"The sex, y/n. Was it so bad you're in a bad mood today?" A laugh pauses in his throat, replaced by a rise of the corner of his lips.
It was a tug, or maybe a push, in your stomach that made your minds do wonders of spins. Such an unpredictable person Taehyung is.
There was nothing to deliberate inside your mind, nothing happened last night. Hyungwon went home without a kiss on his lips, and you're limbs gave out due to the amount of walking.
"There's no sex. We didn't have sex."
"Let me guess, he insulted your outfit? If not, he probably split the check." His index finger extends, eyes wrinkling to get out any more ideas from his dirty little head.
"Can you just- Ugh! What's with you and your insults?"
"How was that an insult? I was guessing which of what he did didn't pass your golden standard."
"If I had a better standard, maybe you wouldn't be my friend." Ouch. It wasn't directed to you but sometimes you just want to dissolve after saying something.
"I'm your friend because you have a high standard." He wasn't offended, not a single bit from what you have said. Was Taehyung that oblivious of how miserable he is? "If we weren't friends, I'm pretty sure I could get inside your pants."
You hoped he regret what he said, just as much as you wanted to dissipate earlier.
"I'm sorry, Taehyung. But my 'golden standard' would never, and I can't stress this enough, let you get in my pants, in an alternate universe where we aren't friends."
"Lies. Lies. Lies. I could easily get you swooning for me in just a matter of seconds, y/n. Stop, and I can't stress this enough, lying."
"Sure, Taehyung. Whatever you want me to fucking say." You turned your back on him to get a grip of yourself. You grunt, you shudder, and you sighed.
Cocky. Bastard. You could join those words together and it would still perfectly describe Taehyung. Perhaps you have a list of two words that could go either independently or together they'd still describe Taehyung well.
Arrogant. Pervert. Overconfident. Asshole. Striking. Idiot. Son. Of. A. Bitch. I. Just. Want. To. Punch. Him.
He places a grip on your arm to spin you to him. "I want you to say it," with a guttural voice coming from the pits of somewhere within his diaphragm, it's crazy how smooth it escaped from his lips.
"Saywhat?" as opposed to yours that escaped with so much tremble and crisp, thinner than air.
"Consent," he began. "I'm pretty sure I can reach your standard."
It was probably a bad idea. And a bad idea is followed by a spontaneous drive to try it, that's how it's done in movies. You'd probably regret it, right? But you'd regret it more if you don't get a chance to prove Taehyung wrong.
Fine. He needs a wake up call. He needs to wake up from that delusion he'd built inside his towering cocky arrogant head, no pun intended, that he's not every girl's cup of tea.
"You know what? Sure. What do you want me to do? Ride you? Then give you a blowjob after not finding the clit-"
He pulls you, hand reaching your lower back to push his groin toward your front. You were far behind than he was, Taehyung was already hard and eager. His lips were hot, warm around the tip of your tongue that vividly tastes the mint and smoke he had had earlier this morning. It was evident in the sloppiness of his kiss, swiftness of his wandering hands, and blazing fire underneath the lust of his eyes, Taehyung isn't exactly as what you have thought him to be.
The men you've slept with before, they were a floating fish in the sea. But Taehyung brings you sea deep into the weakness of your knees, the floor may have shaken 'cause you find yourself falling on his body and he catches you just perfectly, bodies molding with each other on the floor. Taehyung grips your thigh, to the north his hand traveled, his thumb harshly caressing your slit.
The position made it hard for him to move, he was struggling to reach every part of your body as he would have wanted so he pushed your body, and you look him in the eyes with question, both hands resting on his chest as he continues to play with your clit. He earns a sly grunt from you and he'd do anything to hear it again.
Then he was standing, carrying your body to the nearest stool he could find, desperate and quick. With one sharp thrust to lock you in position, he inhales the moan that went from your lips to his throat. Then he stops. He stopped.
"Moaning already, are we?" He lifts his brow, a crease forming on his forehead.
"Can you just get to it?"
He laughs. "That's not exactly how I always do it. I like to take my time."
You punch his shoulder, a questioning look taking over his features. Embarrassment flows through you. "This was a mistake."
He kisses you again, eating whatever insult was about to come out of your mouth. He wants to whisper it, that thing he have always wanted to tell you, in between kisses. Because now that he's got you under his touch, his tongue is burning just to say it. To distract himself, he digs into your waist deeper, sinking those three little words under your skin hoping you'd realize it.
You pull away, pushing him away from you. "Something wrong?" His nails have left their mark before you could figure out.
"No, no. Nothing's wrong."
There is though. You're not a stranger to not know the look on Taehyung's face. You recognize this one, it happened before. The trembling lips and crimson cheeks. They bring you back the day after prom, the day after Tilly Janes took his innocence.
"What happened last night?" you asked him, arms crossed against your chest.
"I'm so sorry I didn't come-"
"You came Tae. You came hard, didn't you? I can't believe you convinced me to go to prom just so you can leave me in there alone."
"I didn't want to. Listen, okay, I realized something last night."
"I don't need your apology, Taehyung. I don't need it. Jimin took me home last night."
"What? Why?"
"Why? Because some asshole left me without a ride. That's why!"
"I was looking for you last-"
"Shut it. He asked me on a date. So thank God, I'm at least in a good mood today to not flame on you."
"He asked you on a date? Are you going?"
Trembling lips and crimson cheeks. He gulped so hard you heard it.
"I am. Hey, are you okay?"
"I just can't believe someone would even ask you out. I'll be going, forget I came."
It's the same face, the same gulp. You put your hand on his cheek, like what a mom would do to an injured child, and he holds it so you won't ever let go of his face.
"We can stop. I know. This was a bad idea. We shouldn't have done it."
He shakes his head, his other hand creeping behind you. He latches his lips onto yours again, pulling your shirt up to reveal your stomach. The kiss was different, a touch of hunger for affection. A slow open one, mostly the breaths clashing in a soft whisper.
"I want you, y/n. I want you," he whispered to your mouth. You push him to the couch, straddling him and he groans in satisfaction. He pulls you closer, enough for his chin to land on your chest and he looks up in pure admiration of you.
There was more behind the words he said, but with the heat pooling in between your thighs, you couldn't care less as of now. It's something you'll resolve after. He tucks a strand of your hair as he makes thrusts underneath you, the thick cotton of his sweats didn't do anything to conceal his cock aching for you.
You remove his shirt, not being able to take your eyes away from his body. Sweet and honey under your gaze, he tenses them and you couldn't help but laugh at this. Kissing every inch of his exposed skin, you kneel as your knees approach the floor, not breaking eye contact with Taehyung while untying his sweats. His hand fails to fall steady on your arm and his Adam's apple bob in anticipation.
There's warmth that spreads across your stomach, different from the one in between you thighs. It's like electricity that continuously ignites a fire inside you when you notice his excitement, eager to have your mouth around him. A sign of reciprocation that he wants this just as much as you do no matter how hard you try to deny it, a catching fire of the thought that maybe he looks at you the way you look at him throughout all these years. Even now that you're not looking in his eyes, the continuous ignition of sparks inside you still teases.
You reach for his length, softly wrapping it in your hand and his breath quickens along with your heartbeat. Studying every detail, even the cold tones of the veins that spreads like tree roots. In usual occasions, giving head never takes your time. You suck it and finish it, no more and no less, nothing special really. But it's Taehyung, and his difference from others makes you uncomfortable in a way it shouldn't be possible. Trying to forget these unnecessary emotions, your thumb circles the head of his cock and he couldn't help but make his lip bleed, the agony of it keeping him awake to not fall into your dreamy touch.
His shorts reaches the floor and you made it quick to to kiss the base of his glistening length. Your index finger making lines on his thigh while the other keeps his cock steady as your lips move upward. You've never imagined how he would taste, but you were always sure he tastes exactly like he tastes now. Bittersweet. He throbs at the heat of your breath, thighs almost jumping when your fingers find his balls. He emits a groan that strengthens the force you're putting in your thighs to keep your core intact.
Down you go, the head of his cock deepening in your throat just like his grunts, getting lower and lower until he thrusts upwards making you gag and he releases a high-pitched whimper of your name. Tears blur your vision and a moan sends minimal vibration to his cock.
"I don't think... y/n, fuck, I'm not gonna last long," he confessed, and you finally look up to see him without removing him from your mouth.
You tongue swirling still and he has gone rabid trying to control himself, clenching your hair as he lets himself go maniac against your throat. He stares at you with mad eyes, his mouth failing in keeping him quiet. Only his groans, his throat-fucking, and your whimpers that you can no longer suppress. You're a little scared maybe he'll get too confident and tease you on your gagging, calling himself so big he made you cry.
He pulls your hair and he tries to get a hold of himself, catching his breath to gain stability. Before you can wipe the corners of your lips, he was standing up and taking your shirt off. He frames his chin with his index finger and his thumb, making you grow conscious of your own body. He had no reason to be looking so long, he'd seen you in a two piece more than one occasion. And he's going behind you, putting a finger at the waist of your shorts, bringing it down slowly until it lands by itself. He wraps your hair in a pony as the other grips your ass, a throaty growl escaping from his body.
He rotates you to the other side, an empty blank wall where you can see the fool you made of yourself. The argument ends here. The argument has ended since he had kissed you like no one had kissed you. You shouldn't have underestimated Taehyung, because he's now biting your shoulder as he slowly descends you to the wall. He hums, this close he can hear the tiny whimpers you try to keep to yourself, your fragile voice that can break once you open your mouth to say something. He can hear them all and he's aware of the power he has over you.
A hand holds both of yours behind your back, and once he has successfully taken your white underwear off, he's positioning the fat head of his cock right in your entrance.
"Make it easier for the both of us and just say it, y/n," he commands, his breath echoing in your ear sending voltage in your spine. He bites your ear and he whispers again, "Baby, please."
"What?"
Taehyung laughs at your adorable cluelessness. He doesn't answer. The next thing you hear was the expansion of his breaths, getting heavier and heavier it's almost a hum as he slides himself inside you.
"Taehyung," you say in a falsetto, "god, Tae, fuck!"
"Hmm, fucking tight. You're so fucking tight, y/n. Your pussy's taking my cock so fucking well," his knees bend to enter you deeply, this sharp thrust hitting a spot in you you never knew you'd feel, "maybe now you'd let me fuck you often, huh? You're gonna take my cock anytime you want, I'll fuck your brains out, ruin you and your cunt."
You respond with a soft murmur of you're not entirely sure what, because Taehyung was already fucking your brains out and you had no other thoughts but the feeling of his cock that slips in out of you so easily. He'd hit that one spot and you're going to release yet another cry and he'd enjoy every note of it. You're a mess with strands of your hair sticking to your face as the sweat trickle down your temples.
"Tell me what you want, y/n. Want it fast, baby?" He speeds up his thrusts, your ah's getting louder as he almost sends you to your high. "Or you want to cherish every inch of my cock?" He slows down which brings you wailing, whimpering his name over and over until you're no longer sure if it's even coming out right. His free hand lands on your ass and you gasp as if inhaling after suffocation. "Answer me," he speeds up his pace again, "answer me, y/n."
But you couldn't, there's nothing in your body that you trust right now especially your voice. He growls, unsatisfied with your silence which leads him to pulling your hair and pushing your back to the wall. You're almost embarrassed to see his eyes once more in the state you're in, overpowered by the despair of wanting nothing but to have Taehyung take you to your climax. Your eyes are begging for him, hell there were tears coming from them as he enters you again.
He cries out, "I want to fuck you all day long, would you let me do that?" He continues to carry you upward the wall and your weight would go down whenever he pulls himself from you. You nod and as he sees this, his head moves back to watch your body crumble before him, giving him no more than satisfaction. "Look at you desperate for my cock, such a fucking whore for me, aren't ya?"
In every "hm" he makes, he enters you harder and rougher, makes you want to stay silent. You bite your lip, feeling yourself come to a close. Your thighs pulling together like magnets, wrapping his waist while it shakes and he doesn't take one second to land your body on the couch, watching your orgasm hit you with spasms traveling your whole body. Taehyung wraps his cock in his hand, moving toward your mouth as he jerks himself off to his own orgasm. You take the spurts of his fluid landing on your tongue, his waist twitching while he groans for each drop of cum.
He sighs, falling onto the couch where your legs are still apart. He smiles at your nakedness, not giving a second thought as his middle finger enters you once more. Your body sits straight, only to land on the sofa's arm. "You're so fucking pretty," he commented, his body hovering over yours again. He kisses you.
"I can't handle," you say before Taehyung cuts you off with another kiss, and another, and another, his finger in and out of you which as the minute grows only turns from pain into pleasure again.
"You're going to," he whispers and he kisses you again, until you're crying his name and he just studies the way you react to his slender finger. "So pretty, so, so," he curves his finger resulting to your second orgasm, "pretty." He makes sure you see his savoring your juices in his mouth, and once he was done lapping up his finger he puts them inside your lips, tasting nothing but his saliva.
"Do you get it now, y/n?" He unclasps your bra, and from then on he ignores your eyes. "This is why I run out of condoms."

Tired: Omega x Platonic! Slicer! Reader
-Hi I’m back from the dead
-i write for females, keep that in mind (sorry, it's what I'm comfortable with, so I hope you understand!)
-but really, I write in 2nd POV, so you can't tell for the most part
REQUESTED
Summary: You're a former bounty hunter who's also a slicer for the GAAR. You meet Omega by chance.
Tired. That was the only thing that could describe your mental state. Being assigned to mission after mission was no fun, especially when it was solo. You were a civvie slicer, one who the GAAR hired by chance due to your reputation.
By reputation, that meant ex-mercenary-who-so-happened-to-have-a-knack-or two-for-technology. The clones were nice to you though. For the most part, they didn't care about your previous occupation because it wasn't the first time anyone's hired Bounty Hunters for the GAAR.
The low hum of the ship helped to ease your building worries. You wondered what the boys of Clone Force 99 were up to. It was no secret that you were part of the complete package. No one knew how you and them got along when you were a civvie. Being outsiders themselves, they hated anyone who wasn’t part of their group. But not you. You were different. Kind. Caring. Understanding.
That thought made you frown. You missed the boys. They had been gone for at least seven rotations without comming you once. The fact that they promised didn't help their cause either. Were they okay? Maybe one of them got hurt, or worse, killed? Maker forbid such a thing.
"They better come back to me in one piece, or I'll have them begging on their knees for forgiveness..."
Beep, beep, beep!
You jolted upright, swinging your legs out form under you as you hurriedly fumbled for the holoprojector. You tapped a button and the cockpit flooded with a soft, blue light. "Tech!" you cried. "It's been seven rotations! Why haven't you commed me?" He removed his helmet with a sheepish shrug. "We've been busy of course. And it's seven rotations and fifteen hours, meaning--"
"Yeah, yeah." you cut in with a sigh. "I don't like the idea of not coming with you guys on missions. I know you're just as capable--more if you want me to be honest--but that doesn't mean I can't worry."
There was a rustle behind Tech and he looked over his shoulder. Hunter came into view, an apologetic look in his eyes. "Sorry we didn't comm you. With all that's gone down, I wouldn't say we've had the time." You flopped down in your chair helplessly. "I know, it's just..."
Hunter smiled warmly. "Don't worry about us (Y/n)." Tech pushed up his glasses and nodded in agreement. "If there's anyone who we should be worrying about, it's you. You go on solo missions six out of nine times. We have each other but you only have yourself."
"Wow, I feel so much better Tech." You sarcastically muttered. "Speaking of mission, I'm on my next one."
Hunter knitted his brows. "Where?"
"Skako Minor."
"Skako Minor?" they echoed. You nodded. "Something strange is going on there. According to Rex, the Seppie battle plans have been drawn exactly like the ones he used to do with Echo--that’s one of his men." You recalled the face of that fallen soldier. He was always so sweet to you, giving a wave whenever you passed and smiling as brightly as he could. To say you missed the poor boy was an understatement.
"Isn't Skako Minor under the Techno Union?" inquired a coiled voice. Crosshair made his way into the frame and unceremoniously squeezed himself between his brothers. "You better not be going alone." You waved it off. "Even if I did, it’s fine. I can take care of myself.”
“Like the time you nearly fried yourself with a loose wire on that rock in the Outer Rim? Yeah, I don’t think so.” You averted your gaze to the side in embarrassment. No one needed to remind you of that rookie mistake. You could have gotten yourself killed. The watts were off the chart there. “That was one time. I’m a master at this stuff, don't worry. And besides, Cody, Rex, Jesse, and Kix are with me." Cross's brows shot up. "You're working with regs?"
"Don't worry, they're seasoned soldiers from the 501st.” That was the truth, and you meant it. Working under Rex for months made it clear to you. During that time, he taught you a thing or two about mechanics. “General Skywalker’s men are more than capable. So is Cody."
Cross looked doubtful, and you couldn't blame him. This was enemy territory you were sneaking into. It didn’t matter who you had on your side, because anyone could make a mistake.
A deep laugh echoed from over Cross’s shoulder. Wrecker set down his gonk droid, Lula in the other hand. “You guys need to have faith in (Y/n),” he reminded with a grin. “She’s smarter than me, and she’s always kept up with us. Is there anything she can’t do?” Tech pushed his glasses up with a challenging look. “Uh, actually--”
“Just be careful.” Hunter concluded. “We want to see you back in one piece.” You nodded in understanding. “Copy that, Sarge.” He smiled, and it was filled with unsaid words of care. Cross sent you a nod, eyes all mushy and soft while Tech knitted his brows together worriedly. Wrecker grinned, and it was so bright that it could have blinded you.
“Same goes to you Batchers,” you stated seriously. “Come back to me in one piece, or I’ll come over there and kill you myself.” Tech looked like he wanted to comment on that, but he sensed the shift in mood and kept his mouth shut. You memorised their faces as best as you could. It would be a while until you saw them next.
The hologram flickered out and the soft glow of blue hues disappeared. The cold, dim lighting of the ship fell over you. “Well that’s that.” you muttered with a weak smile. Rex patted your shoulder comfortingly. “They really care about you.”
“Yeah. But it wasn’t always like that. I used to be a stranger too.”
The rest of the ride was spent with the occasional joke from Jesse. He made you laugh, and it helped to soothe your worries. But then the ship landed, and you were thrust into a battle zone. You were thankful Anakin made you wear heavier armour today. If he hadn’t, then you probably would have been vaporized on the spot.
“We need cover!” shouted Rex. That was a no-brainer. Being out in the open at the bottom of a ravine was not in the least tactical. “SBDs!” you called. “Twelve o’clock!”
Jesse raced past you. “Get down!” He threw an EMP. It wasn’t as effective as you hoped it would be. If the Bad Batch were here, this situation would have been completely different. You were on your own. There was no cover, save for the piles of smoking durasteel and the very armour strapped to your vulnerable limbs.
You were in a head-on battle.
“I guess we don’t have much of a choice.” You charged forward, tossing a few EMPs as you blasted away. The best you could do was nail them in the head and hope for the best. Jesse was right beside you, with Cody, Kix, and Rex following suit.
“I didn’t think you would be this daring!” called Jesse. You blasted a few droids and kicked another in the head. It fell with a clank and you smothered it in a healthy dose of blaster fire. “I wasn’t about to be bested by a couple of rust buckets!” you retorted with shake of your head. “Come on, we need to get to that tower.”
You made quick work of the droids. You were no Jango Fett, but you managed with the help of the Regs. Cody congratulated your work and motioned for the squad to continue on. “It’s obvious the enemy knows we’re here. I have my doubts on sneaking in, but perhaps we can manage...”
Past the commando droids, through the front door, then up the lift and a little further down a couple halls. Before the mission, Rex had pulled you aside to speak in private. He thought Echo was alive and that whatever was sending out those Seppie battle plans had to be him. But you weren’t about to get your hopes up. Not when so many of your friends long marched far, far away.
You stopped by a door and plugged in your datapad. “I need to slice open the door. I’m not about to challenge fate here with a charge.” Jesse nodded in understanding. “I’d rather come back with all my legs and arms, thank you very much.” He turned to keep guard as Cody stood close to your side. “Is this the control room?”
“Yes.” The door swished open and you disconnected your ‘pad from the panel. “I’ll slice the computer and retrieve the information we need. Rex, I need you for this portion.” He nodded in understanding and followed suit. You connected your datapad to the communications table. A hologram appeared, where dates and names passed by in the blink of an eye.
“You said this might be Echo.” you quietly stated. Rex nodded. “I can’t be sure, but there isn’t another explanation.” You watched as the information scrolled past at the speed of light. There wasn’t anything of use so far. Only old reports, check-ins and...
The scrolling froze. A file opened up, filling the room with a voice you wouldn’t ever forget. It was scratchy and lifeless, but you were sure it had to be the man who went KIA so long ago. “That’s...”
“Echo’s alive.” Rex affirmed. “It--it has to be him.”
“We’ve got company!” called Jesse.
You transferred the file and stuffed your ‘pad in a safe spot for keeping. “In case anything happens, I’m transferring the data over to you.” you stated. “I wouldn’t want to lose any of this.” The two of you rushed out of the room in a frenzy. Blaster fire sounded above, whizzing way over your head as you sprinted down the hall. The lift wasn’t far, only a couple metres. You just had to run a little more and--
BOOM!
Had a droid thrown a charge? You turned to Rex, eyes wide as he turned to face you. With all of the strength you could muster, you shoved him out of the way. Another BOOM!. You turned just in time to see the flash of brilliant reds and oranges.
The force threw you into the transparisteel windows, which spider-webbed out in long cracks. You were suddenly flying out of the four story building. Shards cut past your face and through your sleeves, tearing away at flesh and fabric without an ounce of mercy. If only you had a doshing jetpack.
“(Y/N)!”
You didn’t scream, but Maker did it kriffing hurt. There was a sickening crack, another blinding flash of sharp pain. You held back a cry.
Just be careful. We want you back in one piece.
Your vision faded in and out. Black blurred the galaxy as you knew it.
I'm sorry, boys.
You fell into the painful jaws of darkness.
-----
The first thing that hit your nose was the sterile smell of bacta. Your eyes fluttered open and you found yourself staring at the blank ceiling of the medbay. The incessant beeping of the heart monitor caught you off guard. How hard did you fall? Much less, what did you break?
A head of dirty blonde hair peeked over the edge of your bed. Her eyes, wide with curiosity made you knit your brows together. She was young, much younger than any girl here should be. You were about to sit up, but the girl frantically straightened.
"You're not supposed to be getting up." She gently pushed you back down. "You have a lot more than a few broken bones." That was when the pain began to settle. You stilled under the thin medbay sheets. "I need to comm someone."
"Now?" the girl incredulously inquired. "You're hurt, you have to rest first." But that was the least of your problems. Where was Rex? Had he completed the mission? How long were you out? Were Jesse, Kix, and Cody alright? You winced and the girl frowned.
"If it makes you feel better, there were a few people who came to visit."
That didn't make you feel better. It meant they saw you like this, in the most vulnerable state you could ever be in. "Who are you?"
The girl pointed at herself like she'd never been asked that before. "Me?" You nodded. "I'm Omega." She smiled and it was a little shy and toothy. "You've been asleep for a while. I thought you weren't going to wake up for another day." You tensed and pursed your lips together. "How long?"
"A week, I think." Omega said. "But it's okay! You're recovering steadily." That wasn't the issue. Recovering steadily wasn't good enough because you were missing out on a mission you needed to complete. If Echo really was alive, then you had to save him. It was the least you could do after he put his life on the line for you so many times before.
"I have to..." You pushed your aching body up. "I have to go."
"No!" Omega forced you back down. "Even if you could walk, you can't fight."
"But I have to..." The look on Omega's face made you pause. She was so small, and in that little body of hers, she stored up a good amount of worry for you. How could you say no to that? A sigh escaped your lips and you begrudgingly relaxed onto the bed.
Omega's shoulders slumped in relief. "I'll get a your holoprojector." You raised a brow with a watchful eye as she scurried away. She rummaged through a lone cabinet in the corner of the room. Your clothes sat there, belt, holsters, blasters and all. Omega pulled out your holoprojector, closed the cabinets, and handed it to you.
"I washed your clothes too if you're wondering," she said with a small smile. "But don't think about going anywhere! You can't walk with broken legs."
A pit formed in your stomach. You can't walk with broken legs. That wouldn't be true if you had seen the blast. If you had ran faster. Maybe you wouldn't have ended up like this, a mess of bandages, casts, and bacta patches. If only you had seen it coming.
"Hey, (Y/n)?" You didn't question how Omega knew your name. Whoever she was, she had to be a someone to wear Kaminoan jewellery anyway. "What is it?" Your voice was quiet, sad almost. Omega played with a loose thread on her sleeve. "That was very brave of you." She stepped closer to the bed and pulled up a chair. "Captain Rex came by this morning. He told me that you saved him from that blast."
You shifted to meet her gaze as best as you could. The holoprojector weighed your hand down like a ten kilo weight. "I just...reacted. Nothing special to congratulate." Omega shook her head. "No, that's everything. If it were me, I don't think I'd be able to do that."
A pull in your gut told you she meant what she said. Your eyes softened. You didn't meet her gaze. Maybe that was because you couldn't. It was a hard enough fact accepting that you were injured, adding on that you were going soft didn't help your cause.
Omega took it as her signal to give you some privacy and exited the room. The doors swished shut behind her, leaving you in a much needed silence. You tapped the projector. It opened up, bathing the snow white room in soft blue hues.
"Rex." you greeted. "I apologize for my absence." His brows were knitted, eyes all sad and cloudy. He tried to keep a straight face, but you knew better. Of course you did. He was your best friend since the moment you joined the GAAR. "What's wrong?"
He shook his head. "I should be asking that to you. Are you alright? That fall was..." He paused and it was like he was choking back tears. "I-I'm sorry. If I had just been more careful, then you wouldn't be..."
"Rex, I'm fine."
"You can't walk." he muttered. "And you can't do much on your own. I took away your independence, this is all my fault." You knitted your brows together. His words made your heart ache, and the very thought of what he faced on his own without you didn't help. Your lips pulled into a frown deeper than Kamino's oceans. "That's not all, is it Rex?"
He clenched a fist as if it would help cease his rolling emotions. "E-Echo...if you had seen him. I'm just glad you weren't there."
"Is he alive?"
"Yes."
"Well where is he?" You had to fight the urge to sit up in anticipation. He was alive. That sweet, loving boy who taught you about protocols and manuals. As boring as it was, all those regulations embedded into your mind saved you more than you'd like to admit. He and Fives always snuck up on you whenever they came back from missions, or commed you in the middle of the night.
They both kept you up at night, but you never minded. Now one of those boys who had marched so far away had the chance of coming home.
"Where is Echo?" you inquired. Rex's eyes fell to the floor. "He's...Watt Tambor made him more machine than man. I-I can't..."
The doors swished open.
"...If only we had..." You shook your head. "Rex, there wasn't anything we could do. It was a miracle you found him in the first place."
The doors closed with a low hiss.
"Found who?"
Your eyes widened and you ripped your gaze away from the projection. A set of worn, tired eyes met yours. He looked different from the bottom up. His new armor, black and red with a familiar 99 on it. His smile, though a bit dampened, remained the same. He made his way over to you and took a seat by your bedside.
"Echo?"
"That's me."
You tried a smile, and it was all watery and shaky. "Oh, you've changed." He chuckled. "So have you. I heard about what happened. That was brave of you." No, it wasn't brave. You did it on instinct, without an ounce of hesitation. "It wasn't brave, I just..."
"Who else is crazy enough to jump in front of an explosion without katarn-class armour?"
You could name a few people. Fives, for example. "Whatever. I just--I'm glad you're alive."
He smiled and it was a little broken. "Me too."
---
Before you knew it, you were up and running again. There was no time to walk because you were needed on a mission today. It was completely solo, but thankfully, a simple retrieval mission with little to no chances of a casualty.
You settled in the cockpit, taking in the familiar scents and smells of the well oiled machinery. Mechanics wasn't your strong suit, but you never minded dabbling in it every now and then. Today, there wasn't time to brush up on your beautiful ship. You had a job to do.
The jump to hyperspace was as smooth as ever. There were no creaks, no fumbling through space, and no bursts of smoke. But that was when you heard a crash from the storage room. Last tine you checked, the door had been sealed shut while the weapons and supplies stowed away as they should be.
Had you forgotten to tie them down? A long sigh escaped your lips. "What a pain."
"So is my backside." piped a chipper voice. Your eyes widened. There was no way you heard that voice correctly. Sure, it was young. You knew a few other people with a young voice. Sure, it sounded girly. You knew a couple other female coworkers.
"Sorry I snuck onboard," the voice added. "I promise, I was going to leave, but then you left and--" You swerved the chair around to face Omega head on. She smiled sheepishly, as if it would fix all the problems in the whole galaxy. Maybe it would have if the whole galaxy were as kind as you.
"Give me one reason why I shouldn't turn this ship around and bring you back." you stated. Omega fiddled with the hem of her sleeves like it was the most interesting thing on the ship. "You’re short on time?" You resisted the urge to say something snippy in response. The look of uncertainty on Omega’s little face made you feel just the tiniest bit worried.
Maybe that was because uncertainty could get people killed on the battlefield.
"Omega," you placed a hand to your temple, "do you understand what you've gotten yourself into?" This was bad, really bad. Sure, the mission wasn’t as dangerous as it should have been, but intel was like the weather forecast. It was never correct. Taking Omega along with you wasn’t a good idea in any universe, and like Malachor you’d let her into the crossfire.
“I’m sorry.” She wasn’t sorry. “I didn’t mean to sneak aboard.” She definitely meant to sneak aboard. “I just wanted to do something more than...” She let out a short sigh, as if it explained what she couldn’t put into words. “Being on Kamino all the time is so boring. I want to get out and see the galaxy with my own eyes.”
She threw her arms towards the bright blue of hyperspace. You didn’t miss the look of wonder in her eyes, bright as a sun. “There’s more to life than rain and the ocean and the same people I see every single day!”
You couldn’t argue. Omega was right. Even during your recovery, the frustration of not being on your ship doing anything but sitting settled into you every day. You hated being cooped up in one place more than anything. Poor Omega had to put up with it her whole life, it was nearly unfathomable to understand what she felt.
A sharp sigh escaped your lips. “Fine, you can come. But my only condition is that you stay on the ship.”
Omega did not stay on the ship. More than anything, she was curious. She had no clue what dirt was, what kind of plants were carnivorous and deadly, or how to steer clear of all the battle droids.
You raised your blaster and fired at the rust buckets. “This is exactly why I said you should have stayed on the ship! Can you even fire a blaster?” Omega knitted her brows together and eyes the deece at your hip. More than anything, she was curious. Beyond that? Determined.
“No,” Omega replied, “but I’ll try.” She pulled the deece from your hip and peeked over the top of your hiding spot. The long, durasteel crate was just barely holding up. If you were a Jedi, then you’d say it had to be a miracle only the Force knew about.
The deece wasn’t a perfect fit in Omega’s small hands, but it did the job. She aimed at the droids, eyes focused and hands firmly on the weapon. She fired. Once. Twice. Three times. "Did I hit anything?” You fired your blaster a couple times and glared through the smoky haze.
A collection of bolts and durasteel scraps lay in a pile and you couldn’t help but be proud. Either Omega was a natural or she was incredibly strong with luck. Whichever it was, it helped you through the mission, and before you knew it, you were back on the ship with a data stick and an unharmed Omega.
“See, nothing bad happened!” she exclaimed with a grin. You took the blaster from her hands and strapped it back to your hip. “That was luck, I tell you.” Omega rolled her eyes. “It wasn’t! You saw--I was like, pow pow, and you went and hit that guy right in the face!”
“That was because he called me a filthy bounty hunter.” you said, a small smile creeping up your lips. “I can’t say I took too kindly to his harsh words.” Omega let out a laugh and you joined her.
Tired. That was the first thing that came to mind when you thought of your mental state. Yet with Omega by your side, smiling, and carefree despite all the action, you couldn’t help but feel the electrifying sense of thrill.
“Say, Omega? If you want to come back, maybe we can figure out how to get you off that rainy excuse of a planet more often.” you said with a small smile. She beamed, throwing her arms around you with a vigorous nod. “Yes! I’d love that!”
“Me too, kid. We just have to figure out how to convince whoever looks after you.”
BONUS:
A tall kaminoan towered over you with her beady eyes. Omega sheepishly played with her sleeves as you stared down the kaminoan. Stupid long necks. Nala Se blinked. “So this is where you have been, Omega.” That soft, cold voice of hers warmed at the sight of the girl. “Haven’t I told you not to run off? I see you’ve gone somewhere far today.”
Omega frowned shamefully. “Maybe...” Nale Se motioned for her to come to her. “If you would like, you may stay with (Y/n) again--if you are out of harms way that is.” She turned to you and you froze, eyes wide. “Wait, what?”
“I am giving you permission to have Omega under your care, as long as she is out of harms way.” You glanced at Omega, who glanced at you and then Nala Se with the biggest grin on her face. “Really?”
“Yes.” Nala Se smiled. “‘Really’.”

Betrayal
For @mikaberries 4k Celebration Collab
Pairing: Bertholdt Hoover x Reader
Content Warnings: Unprotected sex, dacryphilia, abandonment
Summary: You feel your relationship has run its course but youre unable to get out and you feel trapped leaving you with only one option, but can you bring yourself to do it?
“You're really sure about this y/n”? Hitch asks, sitting in the driver's seat of her Subaru palms just grazing the wheel as she drums on it with her pink fingernails. Sitting in the passenger's seat you pull your knees to your chest and look out at the Starbucks parking lot. Your face is starting to heat up at the shame of what you just told her. “I just really don’t know how else to do it” you mutter, wishing that maybe you had just kept your little plan to yourself that you didn’t get your best friend Hitch involved. She turns to you this time before she speaks “I just really can’t believe you wanna do that to him, just leave totally ghost the poor guy after what? 4 years? Come on y/n be an adult”.
You can tell she’s scowling at you now “Hitch what would you do if Marlo asked you to marry him?” she laughs “well I’d tell him no, I’m not ready for that and not just pack up all my shit in the middle of the night and ask my best friend to be my getaway driver”. You were trying to choke back tears of frustration when you weakly mutter “that wouldn't work on Bertholdt”. “Come on y/n you're being ridiculous what do you mean that wouldn't work” her eyebrows knit together as she looks at you with more concern than contempt now. “Remember when I told you I was going to break up with him last year”?
“Yeah but then you two went to dinner and talked it out and you decided to stay together”
“That’s not exactly what happened. I started trying to breakup with him but he started crying and saying how he didn’t even think he could imagine life without me and everyone started staring and I just told him we could work it out”
“Okay so just don’t do it in a public place again” she takes a sip of her iced coffee
“God dammit Hitch! I’m an adult don’t you think I thought of that? Every time I’ve tried to break up with him he just starts either smothering me telling me how much he loves me or starts crying and going on about how he doesn’t know how to go on living.” Getting more exasperated at trying to make her understand you place your head into your palms “I swear that's the whole reason he asked me to marry him”
Hitch sighs “Do you still love him?”
“I don't know anymore Hitch”
“Okay how about you make an actual attempt to end it tonight, I’ll still drive you and you can stay with me until you get stuff figured out but please don’t just disappear on him”
“Fine i'll make a last attempt but if it doesn’t work will you still come get me?”
“Sure what else are friends for y/n”
It’s later in the evening when you make it back to your shared apartment and your heart is beating in your chest. You're going to do it, you're actually going to be an adult and tell Bertholdt that you're breaking up. You're not getting married and you don’t care about how much he’s crying or the way he wraps his big arms around your body and pulls you close and whispers “stay” over and over. But then you walk in and he’s there and the way his eyes light up when he sees you makes your heart swell and you start to wonder if you can really go through with this “y/n! I’m glad your home I made dinner it’s your favorite” he walks over to you and places his hands on your shoulder “Don’t worry i'm not trying to sway you, I told you that you can take your time to think about my proposal” he smiles “unless you want to say yes right now I’d be okay with that”. Oh god the swelling in your heart is gone and is now replaced with the feeling of being drowned by him, even his touch no longer feels like that of a lover but of a weird stranger. “Uh actually I think” you're interrupted by a kiss, as his hands slide up from your shoulders up the back of your neck into your hair. His lips move to your neck “I’m only joking baby, take your time”. God this is what he did. You could tell he knew what you were trying to do and he was going to try to seduce you into staying with him. His lips lose contact with your neck as he reaches down to pick you up and place you on the counter. He brushes the hair out of your face with one hand, the other resting on your cheek “you know I love you y/n”. You place your hand over his “I love you too” it wasn’t entirely a lie. You truly do think that you still love him in a way which is why what you were going to do was going to hurt. “Let’s go to the bedroom” at which he grins and picks you up again carrying you to the shared bedroom. And you hope to god he doesn’t see the suitcase stored under the bed.
His hips press into the space between your thighs right where he fits perfectly, as you two would joke. His hands go to start toying with the hemline of your shirt, when you look up into his soft blue eyes and push his bangs out of his face “hey, how about we try something” you practically whisper he ruts his cholted cock against you as he kisses that sensitive spot behind your ear reply “yeah what do you want to try” . You grab him by both sides of his jaw bringing him back up to meet your gaze “how about you fuck me like its the last time?” his lustful look is replaced with a mix of concern and a smile trying to hide it “I don’t know if I like that game y/n”. Moving your thumb in small circles against his cheek you smile “I mean just like as passionate as if this were our last time together” you can see his gaze soften at your reassurance. “Okay” ending his reply with a kiss. Large but soft hands run down your neck thumbs tracing your pulse point as he moves towards your breasts giving them a gentle squeeze before moving back to that hemline pushing it up so he can start planting kisses by your belly button making his was up your torso moving the shirt up along with his head until it reaches the bottom of your rib cage where you take the hem in your hand and remove the shirt and bra yourself. Bertholdt pinches your nipple between his top teeth and his bottom lip rolling it into his mouth and soothing the sting of his teeth with his tongue, as his other hand grips your other breast rolling the nipple with his thumb. Legs wrapped around him tightening as the overwhelming stimulation in your tits is causing you to start grinding against his hardened dick in his pants desperate for friction. He pulls away sitting up to pull off his own shirt “hey slow down if this is the last time im fucking you I’d rather make it last” he says with a small chuckle before going to work at your own pants as he slides them down your legs and then lays himself down between your legs. He starts with a wet kiss to the side of your right thigh before making his way down to your core fingers running over your clothed slit before grabbing the waist band and pulling them down. “That's my good girl” he sighs as you spread your legs further apart and grips the sheets at the sensation of his hot breath fanning over your now exposed cunt. A feather light kiss greats your clit before he starts to use the flat of his tongue to lick circles around it as he dips his long delicate fingers into your core and all you can do is grip his locks of dark hair. His fingers dragging against your swollen walls bringing you closer and closer until he switches to suctioning on your swollen bud pushing you over the edge. You squirm under his grip around your thighs as he keeps licking to help you ride out your high. You pull his head off of you, feeling his resistance and attempting to make contact with you again. His jeans already have a wet spot from the way he was rutting his hips into the mattress, so excited at the pleasure he was giving you. He takes off his jeans before sliding back over you, his weeping cock laying on your stomach. You pull his head down into a kiss as he takes his cock and rubs the wet head against your clit before sliding it into you. His hip movements are rhythmic, dragging out slowly and thrusting back in faster and you cant help but to blurt out “I love you, I love you, I love you” over and over at his thrusts; it's almost like a prayer, no, an absolution. The building of guilt at the betrayal to this man's love that you were about to perform, and when he says it back you can't help it and you feel tears start to streak down your face. Bertholdt shifts up and grabs your legs throwing them over his shoulder, head ever so slightly turning to the left to kiss your ankle “it’s okay sweetheart I’ve got you” he says before continuing his thrusting. The tears are still streaming down your face as your head throws back into the pillow at the new deeper angle. Legs still over his shoulder he brings his forehead down to meet yours and he’s so deep you can feel him start to brush against your cervix hurting in the best sort of way. His hips begin to stutter as you feel the warmth of his release into you, and you can feel it start to drip down your thighs as he pulls out of you and wraps you in his arms. “I love you y/n, I really do”
It’s been about 2 hours since you’ve settled down for bed, you're pretty sure he’s sound asleep by the strange way his body is contorted, and you think about how you’ll never wake up hitting the floor because your boyfriend accidentally pushed you out of bed with his crazy sleeping positions again and your chest hurts. “Berty, Berty are you up?” you mutter sweetly but the tall man just continues to slumber. You pull your suitcase out from under the bed, it's packed with all the essentials and you’d probably have to convince Hitch to come and collect the rest of your things for you, no way you could stand to face him after what you were about to do. God you felt like such a bitch you couldn’t have one hard conversation? You had to do it this way? It was so hard because you did love Bertholdt. You weren't lying earlier, you really did love him! But you know this won’t work so you'll continue to feel like something isn't quite right, not exactly whole. So this is the only way you can do it, the only way you can escape from this relationship without the love you feel for him pulling you back in.
You sit in the foyer of the apartment building on your stuffed suitcase and pull out your phone and call her “Hey Hitch” choking back a sob causes a cracking in your voice “can you come get me now”
“Of course, I’m sorry your talk must have been hard”
“We’ll we didn't have the talk per say”
“What do you mean?”
“Well we had sex and I just couldn’t do it Hitch it just has to be this way”
There's a long pause from the other end of the line
“You know y/n, I love you but right now I really don't like you”
You start to sob “I’m sorry I don’t know why I couldn’t, but I left a note”
Hitch sighs before replying “It’s okay we’ll talk more later, i'll be there in 15”

Naked To the One You Love
by: @ameliaodair
Prompt #46: They really do toast privately in CF – Katniss wearing an orange dress for Peeta and Peeta making cheese buns for Katniss. They wanted something their own. No one knows about it and there’s no baby (as far as they know) but how would this change their relationship? How they make their decisions? Would anyone actually believe them when she gets to District 13? [submitted by anonymous]
Peeta, with the help of Prim and Rye has the perfect day planned for he and Katniss. This is the day they will finally have their toasting. Will everything go as perfectly as Peeta planned it?
This story goes hand-in-hand with my current WIP called, “Another Way Out.” If you want to read more, you can find it on AO3 and FFN.

Naked To the One you Love
| Peeta |
“What are we doing?” Katniss asks as I lead us toward the meadow. It’s early still, the sun barely making its presence known along the horizon as it bleeds its hues of purples, oranges, and pinks into the morning sky.
“Having breakfast,” I tell her simply, shivering from the cold.
“In the snow?” She quibbles, rubbing her hands together to warm them up. I sneak my arm around her shoulder and pull her close. She allows it, pressing her popsicle nose into my neck.
“Just be quiet and follow me,” I tell her, which grants me a scowl— no surprise there. When we finally reach our tree, we climb up and I surprise her by opening the door to our tree house.
“Wow, it’s a lot bigger than last time,” she smiles, looking around the tiny room to inspect my handy work. It was only a little more than a week ago when I found a large plank and, with Rye’s help we got it to the top of this tree. Using some of my dad’s tools, I nailed the plank to one of the sturdier branches. Each day since then I have come out here, adding more planks to it, and now it looks like a tiny little house. Or well, well … more like one … very small room of a rather tiny house. It is just spacious enough for the two of us to stretch out comfortably, but it’s a place of our own, somewhere to go when we need to get away. It’s the closest we can get to the woods since the fence is electrified twenty-four-seven now.
We spend the morning in our little makeshift tree home, enjoying the breakfast I packed and watching the miracle of another sun rise. After surviving the games with the love of your life, you learn to appreciate the little things in life. Like sunrises and sunsets. Like sharing meals with your loved ones. Things you didn’t think were important before suddenly become of the utmost importance. So, Katniss and I bask in the warmth from the sun and just enjoy being together like this. With no cameras and no Haymitch. No Effie or prep teams chasing our tails and scolding us about schedules. As much as we love and adore all of them, it’s nice to have a break from them. Finally, it’s just us, which is just the way I like it.
“I think it’s time to get Prim,” Katniss tells me when she sees the sun positioned above the bakery. It always amazes me how she knows what time it is by the position of the sun.
I frown and jut my lip out, exaggerating my disappointment. “No, not yet. Just one more minute,” I whine, leaning in for a kiss.
“Come on Peeta, I don’t want Prim walking home alone.” Katniss contests, squirming out of my arms. As much as I don’t want to leave right now, I know she’s right. We leave everything in the tree and climb down, deciding we’ll most likely return once Prim is safely back at home. Together, we walk to the school and wait for Prim just outside the gates of the school yard. I’m not sure how much Prim knows much about what’s going on, if anything, but Katniss and I are too afraid to let her walk anywhere in the district alone. Afraid of what Snow might do.
Everyone, even Katniss’s mom said her father’s death was just a stroke of bad luck— that he had an aneurysm that no one knew about, that ruptured. That if they’d had the technology the people in the Capitol have at their fingertips, they could have caught and treated it. But we know better. There was no Capitol technology or any fancy device that would have spared his life. There is no doubt in my mind— or Katniss’s that Snow was the cause of her dad’s untimely death. Of course, it wasn’t him per say, because he was clearly safe inside the President’s Mansion in the Capitol, but more than likely one of his spies here in 12. The timing of everything was just too coincidental, not to mention the fact that he offered his condolences before it even happened.
“Oh, I told Rye we’d stop by the bakery on our way home today,” I tell Prim and Katniss, giving Prim a little wink. It’s a lie, but Katniss doesn’t know that. When I clued Prim in on my master plan just the other day, she was more than happy to go along with it— knowing that we all need something positive in our lives— something to celebrate.
We stop by the bakery and I breathe a sigh of relief that my mother is nowhere in sight. She isn’t supposed to be here for another hour or so, but that hasn’t stopped her from making an unscheduled appearance before. Rye has trouble keeping a straight face as he prepares a bag for us, filled with Katniss’s favorites.
“Hey, I uh … I was about to head out and stop by to see Dad, I can walk Prim home,” Rye suggests, also aware of my plan.
Katniss squirms in place, uncomfortable to even the thought of letting Prim out of her sight but I assure her it’s okay. Rye will protect Prim and keep her safe. They have grown rather close over the last few weeks … or, well, ever since Mr. Everdeen got sick while Katniss and I were still on the Victory Tour.
I remember thanking him for being there for my surrogate family and he rolled his eyes and said, “Yeah, like you’d ever let me hear the end of it if I was there and didn’t help if I could.”
‘Right,’ I thought to myself. ‘It had nothing to do with you actually caring about them, let alone that you are a decent human being,’ but I kept those thoughts to myself.
“Prim is safe with me, I assure you that I will take extra good care of her,” Rye assuages. Katniss squirms uncomfortably, so Rye adds, “Katniss, I promise. You have my word.”
“Extra good?” Katniss smirks after a second, her shoulders slowly relaxing. “Maybe on your way there, Prim can teach you some grammar,” she says in that snarky tone of hers.
“Katniss, we’ll go straight home, I swear!” Prim decrees, clasping her hands together and poking her lip out. Katniss narrows her eyes, which is preceded with a scowl, but then she finally concedes.
“Fine. Go straight home. NO detours.”
Prim wraps her arms around Katniss’s waist and squeals, “Thank you, thank you, thank you Katniss! You are the best sister ever!”
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Katniss remarks, trying to hide her grin. Like me, she finds it extremely difficult to deny Prim anything.
After Katniss and I collect our stuff from the treehouse, I get an idea. “I want to make a snowman,” I tell her with a cheeky smile.
“A snowman? Seriously? But it’s cold Peeta,” she whines.
“That’s the point. You can’t make a snowman when it’s warm.” So, that’s what we do, we build a snowman until she gets the bright idea to chuck a snowball at my face. And then— it’s on. I scoop up a ball of snow and sling it at Katniss, hitting her square in the shoulder.
With her impeccable aim, I should have known that I had no chance in the world of besting her in a snowball fight.
“Hey, that’s not fair,” she whines when she sees the pile of snowballs I have hidden behind the snowman. She might have impeccable aim, but I am the youngest of three boys— I had to work twice as hard to keep up with them.
“You started it,” I tell her and chuck another ball of snow at her. For the next hour or so, we have fun, smiling and laughing while getting snow blasted in our faces. Katniss tackles me from the side and slams me down on my back. She straddles my hips, pinning my arms to the ground.
“I win, you lose,” she says triumphantly, planting a victory kiss to my lips.
“That may be true, but I think it’s me who is the real winner here.”
Her eyes knit together in confusion, “And just how exactly do you figure that?”
“Well, you’ve got me pinned to the ground, I’m trapped underneath you. I’ll gladly lose to you if this is my punishment,” I tell her with a crooked grin.
“Come on, let’s go home. I’m cold,” she says, climbing off my hips and helping me up. Under normal circumstances I do not need help getting around with my prosthesis. However, the snow adds many challenges to my already uneven gait.
No longer able to feel either our fingers, toes, or our faces, we make our way back to my house to warm up. Rye and my dad are hanging out two doors down, at the Everdeen’s, so I don’t have to worry about anyone barging in on us. Once I get the fire started, we curl up on a blanket I spread out on the floor, soaking up the heat from the flames.
“I’m going to take a shower,” Katniss tells me once the feeling in her fingers returns and then she makes her way upstairs. Her absence gives me the perfect opportunity to get everything in order. The moment she is out of sight, I begin creating a mental checklist of everything I need to do. Once I hear the water splashing against the tile floor, I zip into the kitchen and get to work. I begin by filling a tray with the cheese buns from the bakery— Katniss’ favorite, and pop them into the oven to warm them up. And then I take out the dough of the white bread I prepared a few days ago, made for this exact occasion. I open the drawer that contains the papers and pull them out. “Certificate of Marriage,” I whisper the words aloud.
“Please be okay with this Katniss,” I anxiously tell myself. “Stop it Peeta. She loves you, you love her; that’s the only thing that matters.” I remind myself, trying to talk myself up so I don’t chicken out.
Once all the bread is ready to go, I place them on a table next to the couch and wait for Katniss to come back down.
I am not waiting long when she comes gliding down the stairs in an immaculate floor-length orange summer dress. The straps holding the dress up on her shoulders are skinny, and for some reason they remind me of spaghetti noodles. It is snug at the top and gets looser the more the light orange fades into a deeper orange. My eyes nearly bug out of my head at the sight of her. She is beautiful, she is exquisite and stunning and just … WOW. It must be one of the dresses Cinna sent back with her, because I’ve never seen this one before. And although this one is clearly a dress meant for days with bright sun and scorching heat— it’s not like we’ll be going outside.
It is so unlike her when she twirls around once, a huge smile on her face. “Do you like it?”
For a moment, I’m speechless, “I … I love it, it’s beautiful; you’re beautiful.”
She blushes, joining me on the floor and I prop some pillows up for us to lean against.
“Are you hungry?” I nervously ask her. Dammit, why am I so nervous?
“What do you think?” She huffs, her eyes narrowing with her trademark scowl, which forces a chuckle to escape from my throat. It’s a stupid question to ask anyone who is a resident of 12. Everyone is hungry, even those of us who are more fortunate than the others. I hand her the platter of cheese buns, but she’s eyeing the other tray. “What’s that?” She asks, pointing behind my back.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” I tell her and shift my body, hoping to block her view.
“Oh my God, Peeta; is that—” The papers are all but forgotten as her eyes go saucer eyed when she catches sight of the bread behind me. She crawls over me and picks the bread up, delicately turning it over and over in her hands. “Is this—”
I bashfully look away and nod my head, “It is,” I admit. Her head snaps to the right— and then to the left as she surveys the room. And then it all hits her at once as she realizes what this is. For a moment, I am afraid she’s going to go running for the hills, but instead, she reaches for the bread knife and begins sawing at the loaf. She frees the piece of bread and impales it on a poker before placing it over the fire. While she rotates the poker to evenly toast the bread, she looks over to me, her silver eyes glistening with the flames and smiles.
“Do I ever tell you how much I love you? H-how important you are to me?” She asks as her eyes meet mine. And maybe it’s just the heat from the flames, but her cheeks suddenly flush into crimson.
All my anxiety dissipates into her gray orbs as I extend my hand out, curling a strand of her hair around my finger. “It is implied every single day, in everything you do,” I tell her softly.
She pulls the poker back and places it down next to the hearth, but not before removing the slightly toasted bread from its prongs. She juggles the bread from one hand to the other— again and again as she waits for it to cool.
My eyes are cemented on her while my anxiety rises to a new level as I await her next actions.
“Peeta … you are … the most amazingly incredible person I know— have ever known. And … I never thought I wanted this, but you— you changed everything for me. You changed the way I see the world, and I … I can’t imagine a life without you. And … even if I could, I don’t want to.”
Woah, wait a minute, what is she doing? Those are supposed to be my words.
‘Katniss, what are you doing?’ I ask her in our silent form of communication.
‘I think you know,’ she smiles mischievously at me.
“Uh-uhn, no, that’s my job, I had this all planned out.”
“Oh, so that’s what today was all about?” She exclaims with a bright smile on her face. I can’t help but return the smile as I lean over and press my lips against hers. Using my weight, I push her down onto her back and kiss her deeply— thoroughly running my tongue along her lips, sucking … pulling her bottom lip into my mouth until she shivers.
“I love you Katniss Everdeen,” I mumble through our connected lips. “I love everything about you; even the things I hate about you, I love.” I crawl up next to her, our bodies continuing to absorb the heat from the flames as I stare longingly into her beautiful grey eyes.
“You ruined my plans, I’m not sure if I can forgive you for that,” I quip, smiling and gazing into her perfect eyes.
“What if I …” She intentionally hesitates, lifting the seam of my shirt up and tracing her fingers lightly across my stomach, “do this?” She finishes, sending goosebumps prickling against my skin and I squirm from side to side with her touch.
“Nothing’s ruined,” she promises. “All I said, was I wanted for it to be ours; that I didn’t want the day I became yours, and you mine to be in front of a Capitol audience. As long as it’s just us, I don’t care about the rest.”
And she says she’s not good with words.
I take her hands into mine, our heads sharing the same pillow as we stare into each other’s eyes, “Katniss, I was mesmerized by you since I was a five-year old, snaggle-toothed little boy. I can’t even remember a time I didn’t love you; and for so long, I never thought you would give me the time of day. I thought … for so long I thought that just being your friend would be enough, but after having your love— after having your heart … I can’t imagine a life without you. I know you only said yes because of … well, because of everything, but I swear to you, I will be the best husband you could ever hope to have. I—”
“Peeta, I—” She interjects, but I stop her.
“Please Katniss, please let me finish,” she nods, not pushing it any further. I glance down to the bread and then back at her, “I offer this toasted bread to you with the promise of being your best friend. I will listen when you need someone to talk to; when you just need to vent, my ears will be open, or if you just need a sounding board, I will be that too. You will never have to be alone again because I will be by your side.“
‘Always,‘ I add in our silent way.
“Even when you don’t think you want me there, I will be. I will hold your hand when you’re scared, and I will be right here, right next to you, scared with you. I will tell you that everything will be okay— because even if it’s not, we will have each other. I will always, always be there to catch you before you fall. And … and I’ll give you a push if that’s what you need, too. Because I love you.”
Her eyes are pooled with tears and her chin quivers as she reaches for our toasted slice of bread and holds it up between us. It is the only thing separating our lips. And then I part my lips and allow her to feed me the bread, our bread. Our little slice of heaven that signifies our love. I sink my teeth into the perfectly toasted bread, as does she. Our teeth sink into our promise to the other and then we seal it with a kiss.
“I love you Peeta Mellark, my husband.”
“And I, you; Katniss Everdeen; my wife.”
“I think that would be Katniss Mellark now; get it right,” she tries to scowl at me but fails, erupting in a giggle.
“I like the sound of that, Mrs. Katniss Mellark— Oh, that reminds me!” I exclaim jubilantly, nearly bursting at the seams as I jump up to collect the papers the mayor had given me earlier this week.
“What’s that?” Katniss asks me.
“It’s um … they’re the papers. To um, make it official.”
“Seriously? When— How?” I breathe out a sigh of relief when she doesn’t object. That she seems genuinely excited.
“The mayor. But … we can’t tell anyone; she’ll be in a load of trouble if anyone finds out.”
“My husband … conspiring with the mayor,” Katniss beams, glowing with pride. I am incapable of concealing the cheesy, shit-eating grin when she calls me her husband.
As I watch her grip the pen in her hand and sign her name on all the dotted lines, I pinch myself to see if I am dreaming. I can’t believe it; I am actually, really, truly and officially married to Katniss Everdeen— Mellark.
“Wait! I have something for you,” Katniss says and rushes up the stairs. I hear her run into my room and then a drawer slams before she is sprinting back down the stairs.
“You already gave me a ring, and I um … I want you to have this Peeta,” she says, her cheeks flushing as she reaches for my hand. Refusing to meet my eyes, she slips something onto my finger.
I pull my hand up to look at what she’s placed on my finger to see a ring adorned to the pointer finger of my right hand. Then she takes her ring off the chain of her necklace— (the one I gave her in District 4 the night of my true proposal to her— the one that once belonged to her mother, given to me by her father) and does the same.
It’s a tradition in 12 that goes along with the toasting. Everyone knows that your wedding ring is typically worn on the fourth finger of your left hand, but in 12, it starts out on the pointer finger of your right hand. There was a tradition from before the dark days that said you start off like this because there is a vein … or maybe it’s an artery that runs from your finger to your heart. And since marriage is the ultimate promise, by doing this you are connecting your hearts together. Once the ceremony is over, then you switch it to the fourth finger of your left hand.
Katniss leans over to kiss me and we switch the ring to our proper fingers while our lips are still conjoined. For now. I will eventually have to find a clever place to keep mine until … until well, I don’t know. But the Capitol cannot know we are already married.
After all the traditions are complete, I take our marriage papers to the office room upstairs and tuck them away in a safe place. Then, with a little extra pep in my step, I find my way back to the main room and scoop Katniss into my arms.
“Peeta! What are you doing?” She squeals like a giddy schoolgirl, encircling her arms around my neck. Carefully, I make my way up the stairs and into my room— our room. Who am I kidding? It’s always been our room— no piece of paper or ceremony was needed to decide that for us.
“I am carrying my wife over the threshold. The toasting isn’t complete until that’s been done,” I remind her with a kiss.
“Okay,” she says, nuzzling her head against my chest. No thanks to my artificial leg, we make it up the steps successfully. I press my lips against hers as my foot passes the threshold. Now, all the standard traditions of 12 are complete, except for the final one. The one that really seals the deal. Consummation.
Just thinking the word in my head causes me to stumble. My brain seems to forget how to gracefully put one foot in front of the other and I fall face first onto my bed, my body nearly crushing my beautiful wife.
She giggles; a foreign sound, but it is one that I cherish. “I love you,” I say, pressing my forehead against hers.
“Smooth,” she says, and I can feel her lips forming into a smile against my mouth.
“So, now, we’re supposed to um …” There is a nervous energy between us; she’s scared, as am I. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever been more terrified in my life, and that’s saying something— having survived an arena and all.
“Katniss, you know … we don’t have to do this, we can just—”
“What? You don’t want to?” She interjects defensively.
“No, no— I mean, yes, I do. I was just saying … if you don’t want to, it’s okay. We don’t have to, we can wait,” I stumble over my words trying to reassure her.
“I want to Peeta,“ she says certainly, never taking her eyes off mine. "I have wanted to for a while now, and I think we’ve waited long enough. Will you … will you help me unzip my dress?” Her eyes flit to the floor as she smiles nervously, her cheeks taking on a rosy hue.
She doesn’t have to ask me twice. While Katniss and I have done many things, getting caught up in heated kisses, touching in places I would rather not mention, we have never gone this far. We have never gone all the way. She turns around and pulls her hair to the side, granting me access to her zipper. I scrupulously glide the zipper down until it refuses to budge another inch and delicately slide the sleeves down her arms. A frown of disappointment encases my lips when she begins to braid her hair.
I press my lips to her bare neck and kiss my way to her shoulder, which causes a moan to expel from her lips. “Leave it down, please.”
“Mmm hmmm,” she moans.
“My God, you are so beautiful,” I tell her, my lips trailing down to the crest of her shoulder. Finally, I sling her dress into the chair next to my bed and she nervously flips onto her back, incredulously facing me.
‘Oh my God, Katniss is naked, bare to me and in my bed,’ I think to myself as I stare her up and down.
Feeling self-conscious … probably due to my ogling her, she reaches over and pulls the sheet to cover her near-naked body.
“No, what are you doing?” I ask her, tugging the fabric back.
“I just … feel so … naked without my clothes,” she says, flushing with embarrassment.
“Well, that’s kind of the point, isn’t it?”
“Well then … be naked with me,” she says, tugging on the hem of my shirt, eager for me to remove it. I slide my shirt off and it joins her dress in the chair. I am hesitant to remove my pants, still self-conscious about my leg.
“Pants too,” Katniss whispers in a raspy— so, so sexy voice.
“I … I—”
“Peeta, I love all of you, even the Capitol-made parts,” she takes charge and flips me over, undoes the button of my pants, and I am too paralyzed to refuse; not that I would want to. She removes my pants, then sits up and straddles my hips. With nothing but our underclothes on, we are completely bare to each other, and I understand what she meant about feeling naked without her clothes. There is nothing to conceal our insecurities, both physical and emotional. But that’s the point, right? To be completely open, bare— naked to the one you love. To have nothing— no secrets between you. However, underneath all my anxiety, I don’t know if I’ve ever felt anything quite this amazing before. We slip under the covers and I click the lamp on that sits on my nightstand. It emanates a soft glow, perfectly lighting the room, while producing a shadow over the insecurities.
“Can I take your leg off?” Katniss asks me. She must be in my head again— I was just too embarrassed to take the initiative— afraid she would find my mutilated leg … repulsive.
“Okay,” I say. For the first time I realize she’s had a lot of practice helping me put it on and take it off as she slips it off with ease.
“I don’t want any part of the Capitol here for this,” she says, placing kisses against the scar on my leg. I pull her up to me and flip her back onto her back.
We are a tangled mess of arms and legs, our tongues dancing together in a frenzy, yet in perfect synchronicity. As if they’d been practicing for years and years until they reached utter perfection. I trail kisses along her neck, down to her collarbone and across her shoulders. I want to kiss every inch of her body; I don’t want to miss a single bit of her skin. I reach down and cup her perfect breasts in my hands and she moans out in pleasure, which causes my cock to pulse until it is fully erect.
“Touch me Peeta,” surrendering to her every command, I stroke her arms, and then add light touches to her perfectly flattened stomach. I caress my hands up and down her legs, trying to muster up the courage to touch her there. Finally, I do, and she’s so hot and wet for me. I slide one finger inside her center and keep it in there while I use my thumb to rub circles on that little bundle of nerves that I know has the power to make her come undone.
Her body tenses up and I know I’ve hit the right spot when she pants out my name. “I could be satisfied … happy, just doing that to you … every second of every minute, of every single day,” I tell her once the intensity of her climax has subsided.
“Then how would you make me cheese buns?” She says with a heavy breath. Smiling, I inch up to her face and kiss her. Soft and light at first, and then harder, deeper— as if I am starving and her lips are the only way to satiate my hunger.
“I need you Peeta; I— I need you closer,” she breathes into me and I instantly know what she means. She wants me to be inside her. We have both wanted this for such a long time, I almost can’t believe it’s actually happening. I kiss her softly as I fumble my way on top of her. Using one elbow to prop myself up, my other hands grips onto my cock as I tease her entrance with my hardened member. Even without being inside her, I can feel how wet she is. Which only causes my already rock-hard cock to pulse even harder. She spreads her legs open for me and I fumble nervously, guiding my cock into her entrance and sliding inside her— slowly at first.
“Is this okay?” I ask her, recalling an embarrassing conversation with Rye as he gave me the intricate details that a girl’s first time can be painful, and that it’s important that they are “ready” prior to penetration.
“More Peeta, I need all of you,” she demands, locking her legs around my hips and digging her heels into the back of my calves. Slowly, I push myself deeper into her, impaling her, until finally, I am fully submerged into her heat.
“Holy FUCK!” I gasp, crying out when my cock is surrounded by her walls. “Is- is this okay?” I ask her again, not wanting to do anything that might hurt her. It is taking every bit of willpower that I possess to keep my body still— to prevent my hips from ramming deep— and hard, into her.
“Oh God, Peeta, you feel so good. Please … please, Peeta—” she begs me, and I’ve never been very good at denying her anything as I submit to her will. Slowly, I partially retract myself from her center and then slowly, slowly push myself back inside, our pelvises grinding against each other. Her nails dig into my back, finding their way to my ass and then she squeezes—
“Holy FUCK, how did you just do that?” I ask when her walls tighten around my cock.
“What … this?” She grins, repeating the action, “You like that?” She says in a teasing, seductive voice.
“Katniss— stop … or I’m going to … or I won’t last, and I want … this has to be perfect,” I beg her and then she reaches up, encircling her arms around my neck and pressing her mouth to mine.
“It’s already perfect because I’m with you,” she tells me in-between heated kisses. And once again, she stupefies me with her words.
“Oh God, I love you too, my perfect, beautiful, amazingly gifted wife,” I tell her, while gliding in … gliding out of her sex.
“Katniss … I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to last if you keep doing that … where do you want me to—”
“Right where you are,” she tells me, knowing what I am trying to say.
“But,” I question her with a raise of my brow.
“I took that pill Effie gave you— I mean, me,” she explains, running her tongue along my ear.
I shiver from the contact and lose all control as I slam into her— again and again before grinding into her center once more. We both grind; hard and slow, and deep— achieving the perfect rhythm until I feel that familiar stirring deep in my stomach— and then we’re both moaning, and yelling, and whispering— shouting— gasping the other’s name and I’m spilling into her, filling her with my seed; both of us believing that Effie’s miracle pill from the Capitol will prevent any watering of said seed.

Method to my madness [Yandere! Switzerland x reader]
Word count: 4,144 Warning: NSFW content later in the fic. There will be a warning line before it starts, and another line to indicate its conclusion. So skip it if you don’t want to read it.
Synopsis: As a stereotypical Swiss, he never did anything unplanned and worshipped punctuality. But when it comes to you, he’d throw that all away and show up to your door unannounced. In another country. And in the middle of the school term. Why? Because he can. Because he doesn’t trust your neighbors, your raunchy one in particular. He was the polar opposite to him—lazy, sloppy, and disorganized. So when he tries to invite you to a party, Basch makes it a point to stop you from going—even if that entails doing exactly what he accused him of. The reader is referred to as she/her.
Crunching numbers occurred to him like second nature. Anything that could be explained in a book, he understood like the back of his hand. In fact, he didn’t have much trouble doing anything at all, but when it came to you, every fiber of his being would clam up. His infallible logic betrayed him like he never had any in the first place. Now was one of those times as he boarded a flight bound for California.
As he made himself comfortable in his seat, he gave the passengers around him a quick study. Already, they were stripping themselves of their outer layers. Windbreakers, jackets, coats, you name it. A middle-aged man removed his hoodie to reveal a T-shirt underneath, and with big, bold letters spelled ‘USA’, which popped out around his belly as if to emphasize it. A single thought occurred to him as he looked away with furrowed brows. Tourists.
They had their fun, and were on their way home, starting with preparing for the sweltering heat of Californian Summer. He folded his arms together and sank into his chair. He’d remove his knit later. At the moment, he had a more pressing issue in his hands. What was he supposed to say when he’d show up at your door without notice?
Hi, I felt a dire need to visit you all the way in America in the middle of your semester when I heard you were living in a dorm. But that’s not all. It would’ve been fine until you sent me a selfie with a guy in the background holding a peace sign. Then that other photo showing a different guy using your toaster. Which implies that there are numerous guys living with you. In other words, people I don’t trust alone with you.
So here I am.
Surely, that wouldn’t fly.
You’d known him as a man who had his whole life planned out in a diary. And this was hardly planned. It was spontaneous, even. Basch Zwingli, the stereotypical Swiss who looked at the clock for things to do, was being spontaneous? Hell may as well freeze over at this point. To say this would surprise you was given, but he didn’t see anything wrong with this, per se. He probably would’ve done this to Lilli, but the thing was, he wouldn’t have ever let her study abroad by herself in the first place.
She was his baby sister, but you weren’t. And that was probably why he was at your doorstep. He couldn’t oppose your choice of study, but he could sure as hell be part of it.
He knocked a few times. He could barely make out the faint ‘just a second!’, but the sound of the voice was so familiar, he froze up. But that wasn’t quite right. Hearing Lilli’s voice never made him feel this way. The door creaked open to reveal a less than presentable girl in her pajamas, an oversized shirt, and she had the messy bed hair to go with it.
And when you saw who your visitor was, the droop in your eyes disappeared.
“Basch!? Oh my god--what are you--” You could barely talk as disbelieving laughs fell from your lips. “I can’t believe it’s you! I almost couldn’t recognize your face because I didn’t expect you at all!” Reaching out to give him a tight embrace, he returned the gesture with a gentler hug.
His arms were slow to wrap around your form, but to even have your affection reciprocated at all spoke volumes of how he was feeling. It had been nearly half a year since he saw you last, and to realize he was spoiling himself with an unannounced visit sent chills down his spine. He really was pushing the envelope with this one. But he had a gut feeling he wouldn’t regret this at all.
When you pulled away, he caught you gleaming at him with the brightest of smiles. It was so infectious, he felt a light tugging at his lips. “Well, I’m here if that convinces you.”
You grinned. “What are you even doing here? My break doesn’t start until a month later! But I can say this is a good time you caught me in. I only have one more final to pull through.” Pulling him into your humble abode, you barely made it into the hallway when you failed to hear the sound of wheels. So you paused. “... Basch, where’s your stuff?”
Confusion contorted at your expression, but you looked more worried than anything. It would’ve made sense if he was planning to stay at a hotel, but that wasn’t possible. He’d rather sleep on the ground than spend hundreds of dollars for accommodation, and what was the point of visiting if he wasn’t under the same roof as you? He tensed up as he confronted how truly out of character he’d been acting.
Shit. Even he was shocked that he failed to bring the most fundamental of things for this trip. When he bought his ticket, nothing went through his mind besides the need to see you. It took up so much of his brain, it managed to block out the concept of a suitcase. Packing for a trip that was to last for months. How was he supposed to explain himself? “... They lost my suitcase on the way here.” Perfect.
Your lips formed an ‘o’ shape as you nodded in understanding. “Ah, that’s too bad. I’m sure they’ll find it for you, though. Otherwise, they’re gonna have one hell of a lawsuit.”
“... But where’s Lilli?”
Why was his sister not with him when they were practically sewed together by the hip? And for such an important visit, no less. But he came prepared in case you’d ask. “Lilli’s not here because she had school. And I saw that tickets were the cheapest during this time so I decided to come early.”
At the sound of that, any traces of worry left your face and you burst into a fit of laughter.
“Of course you did, you cheapskate. I was always wondering which trait of yours was the strongest, but now I know.” Blood rushed up to his cheeks and he forced himself to look away. But when he felt your hands settle on his shoulders, he slowly turned to you. He didn’t even know if he was supposed to regret that action, because in that very second, he realized he was wrapped around your finger.
“I’m just kidding, Basch. There’s nothing wrong with saving money. And if that means you get to visit early, I’ll love you for it.” You cracked a tender smile at him this time around, and seeing that look on your face while listening to you talk had him wondering if he was even breathing at that point.
It was almost terrifying how easily he could lose his head around you. And he thought he had a good one on his shoulders. Everyone did. How come he could barely even think straight when it came to you?
“... Right.” He tipped his head forward to let his bangs fall in front of his face. It was a gesture that was almost shy in nature, but his action revealed a small ponytail on the back of his head, which of course, stole your attention away in an instant.
You gasped to emphasize the discovery. “Aw, did you tie your hair up? It looks so good! Everyone’s gonna be asking about you now!” Giving him a teasing elbow, you watched his expression morph into dismay. “Hey, I promise it’s a good kind of curiosity. College has us all swarmed and we’re dying for something out of the ordinary. My friends will be excited to meet you!”
“Why, because I’m… European?”
“Are you asking that because I complimented your hair?” He heard a soft snort from you. “I’m from the same town as you, dummy. I think I’d count as European as well. But that’s probably what they’ll be so interested about.” That was right. “If they find out about you, they won’t stop asking about if we’re… You know what.” Your voice strained a little and you looked embarrassed, even.
He blinked. For someone so high-strung about you, he could sometimes miss the key points.
“I’m having a hard time following. About what?”
You sighed and pushed his cheeks together to muffle his words. “Why do you always have to make me say everything, hm? They’ll obviously ask if we’re dating. You’ve never met them because they always go elsewhere during the break, but everyone will be here this time.”
By everyone, he assumed that included peace-sign guy and toaster-leeching guy. Immediately, he frowned with the most potent kind of disdain he ever felt. To think they spent most of the year with you was almost disheartening. But he didn’t need to remind himself they were the reason he was here. Basch could admit he was an oblivious person at times, but he wasn’t ignorant to the promiscuous sex life in college. The men here were wolves, so he had to see for himself if he could really leave you alone here.
But he had a feeling he wouldn’t be leaving your side anytime soon.
If that was going to give your friends the wrong idea, or perhaps, the right idea about you two, then so be it. He even wanted them to assume things. Even if he didn’t think much of it, flying all the way here for an impromptu visit was more than enough to get mouths moving.
He had yet to be on the same page as them. To realize that maybe, what he was doing wasn’t because you were like a little sister to him--like Lilli--someone to be protected. Or rather, someone he had strong feelings for. But given enough time around these so-called friends of yours, he’d learn it the hard way. And who better to press his buttons than your raunchy next-door neighbor?
The day after his unexpected arrival, he’d encounter this very neighbor who found the leisure in swinging by for a visit. Basch had his hands full with dishes in the sink when a few knocks were heard. He was generous enough to make lunch and clean up, though you had to wonder if doing chores was how he’d repay the debt from all the things you had to buy for him.
He never moved from where he stood as he could already hear you scrambling to answer the door. When it creaked open, a low and playful laugh greeted you. “There’s my girl.” My what now? Turning his head to the newcomer, he felt a pang of annoyance when he saw a man lean in from the doorframe. Said man reached out to give your hair an affectionate ruffle, and immediately, Basch decided he didn’t like him.
“Mornin’. Did ya eat yet? I was gonna go to a cafe for some grub. The one that has those killer vegan pancakes. Wanna come with?”
You hummed in disappointment. “Sorry, Al. I just ate. Maybe if you came in a little earlier, I would’ve been able to come.” Placing your hands on your hips, you placed emphasis on what you later added. “It’s two.”
No, he hated him. From that brief exchange and study of his physical appearance, he knew he was practically the polar opposite of him. A lazy, good-for-nothing slob. He had two full sleeves of tattoos. Piercings decorated one of his eyebrows, and as he spoke, he saw a small silver ball on his tongue. His fiery red hair wasn’t even long, but it was still unkempt as if he just rolled out of bed and didn’t bother checking the mirror. But then again, he did greet you with ‘morning’. Basch tightened his ponytail and made his way over to you, disgruntled. “...”
Sensing his presence by your side, you patted him on the back. “This is Basch, by the way. The friend I told you about.” When you exchanged looks with Basch, your smile faltered when you saw his expression. He looked almost upset, though you hadn’t the faintest idea why.
You figured you’d ask later.
The stranger was fast to acknowledge him, and with great enthusiasm at that. “Ohh, you’re the dude who flew over from Finland or something!” His striking ruby eyes widened with fascination, and he was grinning from ear to ear. “Wow, you’re pretty high-strung bout’ her, aren’t you? Makes the two of us.”
High-strung about you? Of course, he was--whatever the hell that meant. “... Switzerland.” The blonde clarified, to where Allen merely shrugged. “Close enough.”
While you laughed off his playful jibes and apparent forgetfulness, Basch couldn’t humor him. Between him and your neighbor, they were probably completely serious about the high-strung bit. He could tell in that brief side-eye Allen gave him, almost as if he was trying to stir some kind of reaction.
So be it. Two could play at this game. Unbeknownst to your raunchy friend, Basch could be just as outspoken.
“Anyways--” Rolling his head to you, Allen shot you an expectant look. “So… What’s your answer, doll? To the party this Friday? Is it a yes or a yes?”
“She’s not going.”
Your lips separated agape to answer, but he beat you to it. His invitation was shot down just like that. Shock widened your eyes and you gawked at Basch. You knew how protective he could get, exceedingly so, but it never got to the point of canceling plans without discussion.
“What do you mean, I’m not going? Basch, it’s fine!” You exasperated, but his only response was to squeeze your hand.
Something was wrong, for sure.
“... Yeah, it’s not like anything‘s gonna happen. Not when I’m around. So what’s the big idea, man?” Allen folded his arms disapprovingly. A shrewd light glinted in his eyes when he was struck with an idea. “If you’re so worried, you can just come with. Even though you’re not her boyfriend—”
Basch felt himself go red in the face. From both anger and mortification—because Allen was right.
“... Fine. I will go with her.” He relented, albeit reluctantly. Hardening his stare at the tanned figure, someone who sounded more persistent than he liked, he let his tongue slip. “And it doesn’t matter I’m not her boyfriend. I’m still her best friend, and I care about her more than you do.”
It was a given from how long you’ve been this close to him. But that didn’t change the fact blurting that out was unlike him. It left you in a blushing tizzy to hear him explicitly say those things, and you grew hyper-aware of his iron grip on your hand.
Being protective was one thing. But when was he possessive?
Allen laughed. “Yeah, yeah. You can flex that label all you want.” Making a move to leave by turning his feet, his lips curled up into a mischievous smirk. “I don’t want it. Not when a better label’s up for grabs. Boyfriend. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”
Shooting you a wink to reduce you into a stuttering mess, he took his leave.
And when he did, Basch lost his shit.
“How long have you been friends with that guy? Can’t you see he’s just trying to get into your pants? He’ll probably stop being so nice to you once he does!” He fumed, taking both your hands into his as if to secure you in place. But really, you weren’t going anywhere. Not when you were about to receive the biggest lecture of your life. “You can’t hang around people like that, (F/N). You can’t trust him.”
You hung your head as a frown downturned your features. There was some truth to his words, especially when the man he spoke so ill of was a fairly new friend of yours. It was a shame to say the least because you did like having him around, but that wasn’t the biggest concern of yours at the moment. “You’re right… Kinda… I just really liked him as a friend, so I didn’t wanna say no…”
That didn’t come out right.
He thinned his lips as a grim expression contorted at his face. “... Did he do anything to you?”
You shook your head profusely. “No! God, no, of course not! Sorry, I put it weirdly. Nothing happened, really.”
Basch sighed, reaching out to pinch the bridge of his nose.
His bangs fell over his eyes to hide them. He couldn’t remember the last time he was this worked up over you, over a guy at that, but then again, he was beginning to suspect there was a little more to it than that. “... Okay. So are you gonna go to the party?”
“I don’t know. But I’ll probably go if you come with me, so…” With your free hand, you held onto the hem of his shirt. When he caught sight of the look you had on your face, he stopped breathing all over again. “I can tell something’s wrong with you. You looked really upset just then, and it’s not like you to just snap like that.”
He released you to dig through his hair, loosening the once tight strands pulled back in his ponytail.
That was right. Since when was he so possessive?
So jealous?
He bit his lip and looked positively defeated. As he fixated on the ground to avoid your gaze, he felt your hand gently cup his cheek, forcing him to look up at you. “It’s not like you to suddenly show up out of the blue, either. So tell me, why did you actually come here?”
Basch furrowed his brows and screwed his eyes shut. “... I don’t know. I just wanted to see you. That’s all.” You softened your gaze at that, feeling your chest swell up with warmth. He was always brutally honest, but he was more ambiguous when it came to how he felt.
So to hear him admit his troubles so easily had you almost worried about him.
As if he sensed this worry, he offered you a small smile of reassurance.
“Don’t worry about me. I swear there’s nothing wrong.”
Or that was what he wished, at least, because he was far from okay.
To make things worse, Allen wasn’t patient enough for today because he dropped by two more times after meeting Basch for the first time. Nearly a week had passed since then. This only proved his suspicions—that all he wanted was to get in your pants—and it left Basch positively restless. So restless that he couldn’t leave you alone.
It was finally Friday, and you were in your room browsing for outfits for the night. The man was sleeping like a log in your bed, and after a few unsuccessful attempts at waking him up, you decided to change with him in the room. How he ended up in your sheets wasn’t anything out of character, per se.
In the previous few days, he followed you around everywhere you went. That, you were perfectly fine with, but sleeping in your bed? He was pushing it. Despite your valiant efforts to get him back into the guest room, it was unparalleled to his own determination. What could you say? He was as stubborn as a mule. That statement would manifest into reality as he stirred awake.
Sitting up with the worst bed hair you’d ever seen, you found yourself covering your chest instinctively as he stared dead into your eyes with his own drooping ones. “Basch! Sorry, um, I couldn’t wake you so I decided to just…” Blood rushed up to your cheeks as he continued to stare, wordlessly. “Basch?”
You watched him slide off the mattress and saunter over. Holding your wrists and lowering them, he exposed your bra, but he never gave you the chance to complain. Instead, he loomed his head over yours and glowered at you. “You’re not going.”
Goosebumps pricked all over your skin when his hot breath fanned over your lips, and you were much too taken aback by his closeness to object. In fact, his face was so close, his nose was brushing against yours. “Wait, what are you--” Your whispers were cut off abruptly when he sealed your mouth with his.
He was kissing you. Albeit innocently as he parted frequently, pecking your lips over and over again. As gentle as he was, he still left you breathless, but flustered and confused all the same. But you didn’t have the heart to push him off you as your mind raced with questions. Why was he doing this? Had he always felt this way? There was a tenderness in his touch that told you he had.
But why didn’t he ever tell you?
When he finally parted, he kept his forehead pressed against yours. “Just tell him you’re not interested.” He frowned. “Say you already have a boyfriend. I’ll pretend if I have to.”
Because he’d been denying it.
“But--” Basch kissed you again, leaving a silvery strand of saliva connecting your lips as he parted. Your chest was rising and falling in a fervent manner as you struggled to breathe--the same plight he’d been facing for a while. Frankly speaking, you were at a loss from how much control you let him have over you. But you never tried to push him away. At this point, the throbbing in your chest had completely shattered your resolve. “--why are you kissing me if we’re pretending? There’s nobody here but us.”
His cheeks reddened before he tugged you along to your bed. Seating you on his lap, he attached his hands to your waist and squeezed it, making you yelp out in surprise. “If you’re letting me kiss you, then how are we pretending?” You blushed at that, realizing you had just as much of a part to blame.
Leaning in at that, he fanned his breath over your lips. “It just means it’s real.”
He still wasn’t processing the weight of his actions and just how out of line he was acting. But then again, he never did either of those things when it came to you. And it wasn’t like you were stopping him, either. So really, you were just as guilty for letting things go out of hand. Though you had to wonder if this was how things were supposed to be, especially when you continued kissing him in his lap.
*NSFW content ahead*
Said kissing escalated along with the heat of your bodies, all until he had his tongue in your mouth.
He never realized how much he’d wanted this until he had you under him, squeezing his neck as he left lovebites all over yours. Then, he made his way down to your shoulder and collarbones, chewing on your flesh until he memorized the taste of you. But he couldn’t say he was satisfied. Not until he truly crossed your boundaries and went all the way.
That was where this was going, after all.
Rather than going to that party Allen invited you to, you spent the whole night having sex with Basch. To say it was a psychedelic experience was an understatement.
As he held you down to make love to you, letting his arousal curve deep into your walls at every strong thrust he gave, he had you writhing in pleasure so good, the last remnants of your sound mind were completely destroyed. So while you would’ve been fussing about the fact he didn’t use any protection, you couldn’t, not when he fucked you silly.
To him, this was a culmination of everything he wanted. To have you for himself. And this rampant desire was so potent, it inundated him. Tugging apart the strands that held his self-control and reason together, he lost his head.
You never imagined he’d be so energetic and reckless in bed, even cumming inside you, twice, on purpose, when he was always so high-strung about safety. But as you found yourself on his thighs again, trembling as you sunk down to the base of his cock, you could watch him unravel with all sorts of animated expressions you’d never seen before.
Desperation, lust, and an aggressive infatuation as he bounced you on his imposing member. Bringing you close so he could bite your ear, you could hear the shivering in his breathing as he held back his moans. “You drive me so fucking crazy sometimes...” He whispered.
*NSFW content ends*
That was the first time you ever heard him curse, too. So maybe, you really were driving him crazy. This would become more apparent the next morning as he slept in past noon, something he hadn’t done in years.
And depending on if you’d remember or not, he’d buy you some morning-after pills.
Because something happening wasn’t a big concern of his.
In fact, it excited him.

The Seven Potters Plan Part 1 • R.L
(Gif not mine)
Request: Nope, just wanted to torture myself with this idea :)
Summary: Harry Potter needs to be relocated from his house in Surrey to the Burrow, however, because he’s not quite seventeen yet, he still has the Trace. Your father, Mad-Eye Moody, comes up with a Plan B. Here’s how it goes.
Warnings: canon character death, canon Deathly Hallows, cursing, death, grieving, mention of injury and blood, death eaters, Voldemort, just a lot of hurt/angst
Word Count: 2.6k
A.N: So the first like 1k words are taken straight from the book. Why? Because I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff. Implied that you’re Remus’ age, the two of you are married, why do I think of these things? I’m like 99% sure I made this gender neutral? But if I didn’t like let me know. I know this is angsty, but I hope you all enjoy. Love you all ❤️
EDIT: So the full fic exceeded 250 word blocks, which is shit because this is not meant to be split up. Meaning, the ending is abrupt because I had to split the whole thing. This is fucking stupid, but whatever. Please don’t forget to read Part 2 for the whole story
****
“All right, all right, we’ll have time for a cozy catch up later!” Your father roars from beside you, cutting off Harry’s conversation with Tonks.
A silence falls over the kitchen, everyone staring uneasily in his direction. You tinker with the zipper on your jacket, nervous about the next few hours.
“As Dedulus probably told you,” He continues, one eye glaring at Harry, the other rolling around in its restraint. “we had to abandon Plan A. Pius Thicknesse has gone over, which gives us a big problem. He’s made it an imprisonable offense to connect this house to the Floo Network, place a Portkey here, or Apparate in or out.” You watch his knuckles turn white, the grip on his staff tightening in anger. “All done in the name of your protection, to prevent You-Know-Who getting in at you. Absolutely pointless, seeing as your mother’s charm does that already. What he’s really done is to stop you from getting out of here safely.”
Harry’s lips tug into a frown.
“Second problem: you’re underage, which means you’ve still got the Trace on you.”
Harry glances around the room, dark eyebrows knit together in confusion. “I don’t—“
“The Trace, the Trace!” Mad-Eye continues impatiently. “The charm that detects magical activity around under-seventeens, the way the Ministry finds out about underage magic! If you, or anyone around you, casts a spell to get you out of here, Thicknesse is going to know about it, and so will the Death Eaters.”
You swallow roughly at the mere thought of being swarmed by Death Eaters unprepared.
A calloused hand grabs yours, and just by the feel you recognize it at Remus’. His hand is warm and comforting in your grasp.
“We can’t wait for the Trace to break, because the moment you turn seventeen you’ll lose all the protection your mother gave you. In short: Pius Thicknesse thinks he’s got you cornered good and proper.”
“So what are we going to do?” Harry questions, his determined tone hiding fragility behind his words.
“We’re going to use the only means of transport left to us, the only ones the Trace can’t detect, because we don’t need to cast spells to use them: brooms, thestrals, and Hagrid’s motorbike.” You father answers gruffly.
You squeeze your husband’s hand hard as you shift around. You hated this plan. It left you all open and vulnerable, and the pit in your stomach was screaming at you that something bad was going to happen. But it was, in reality, the only way to safely get Harry away from his house.
A skeptical look flashes across Harry’s face as well, though he doesn’t say anything.
“Now, your mother’s charm will only break under two conditions: when you come of age, or“—Mad-Eye makes a head gesture around the kitchen, his pockets jingling.—“you no longer call this place home. You and your aunt and uncle are going your separate ways tonight. In the full understanding that you’re never going to live together again, correct?”
He nods.
“So this time, when you leave, there’ll be no going back, and the charm will break the moment you’re outside it’s range. We’re choosing to break it early, because the alternative is waiting for You-Know-Who to come and grab you the moment you turn seventeen.”
The cool metal zipper is still between your fingers, a distraction from all of the grim looks around the room.
“The one thing we’ve got on our side is that You-Know-Who doesn’t know we’re moving you tonight.” Mad-Eye informs him. “We’ve leaked a fake trail to the Ministry: they think you’re not leaving until the thirtieth. However, this is You-Know-Who we’re dealing with, so we can’t just rely on him getting the date wrong; he’s bound to have a couple of Death Eaters patrolling the skies in this general area, just in case.”
You swallow roughly at the thought.
“So, we’ve given a dozen different houses every protection we can throw at them. They all look like they could be the place we’re going to hide you, they’ve all got some connection with the Order: my house, Kingley’s place, (Y/n) and Lupin’s, Molly’s Auntie Murial’s—you get the idea.”
“Yeah.” Harry responds, nodding once again.
“You’ll be going to Tonk’s parents.” You father goes on to explain. “Once you’re within the boundaries of the protective enchantments we’ve put on their house, you’ll be able to use a Portkey to the Burrow. Any questions?”
“Er—yes.” Harry stutters. “Maybe they won’t know which of the twelve safe houses I’m heading for at first, but won’t it be sort of obvious once”—he starts counting the heads around him—“fifteen of you fly off toward Tonk’s parents’?”
“Ah,” You scoff. “And here’s the kicker.”
Harry looks at you with a frown. Your father lightly jabs you with his staff.
“I forgot to mention the key point.” Mad-Eye scowls. “Fifteen of us won’t be flying to Tonk’s parents’s. There will be seven Harry Potters moving through the skies tonight, each of them with a companion, each pair heading for a different safe house.” He takes out his old flask from the inside pocket of his jacket.
“I hate this plan.” You mutter under your breath. Remus’ fingers trace figure eights between your knuckles.
“No!” Harry loudly protests. “No way!” His hands are balled into fists as he frantically looks at all of you surrounding him.
“I told you he’d take it like this.” Hermione lightly points out.
“If you think I’m going to let six people risk their lives—!“
“—because it’s the first time for all of us.” Ron rolls his eyes at his friend.
“This is different, pretending to be me—“
“Well, none of us really fancy it, Harry.” One of the twins jokes. “Imagine if something went wrong and we were stuck as specky, scrawny, gits forever.”
Harry doesn’t smile but the other twin lets out a snort.
“You can’t do it if I don’t cooperate, you need me to give you some hair.” Harry stubbornly tells you all.
“Well, that’s the plan scuppered.” One twin dramatically sighs. “Obviously there’s no chance at all of us getting a bit of your hair unless you cooperate.”
“Yeah, fourteen of us against one bloke who’s not allowed to use magic; we’ve got no chance!” The other teases.
“Funny.” Harry sarcastically remarks. “Very funny.”
“If it has to come to force, then it will.” Mad-Eye growls.
“Dad!” You yelp, the idea of piling on top of this kid just to get a strand of hair repulsive to you.
Your father glances at you, face softening, though only slightly. You’re probably the only one who notices. The perks of growing up with him, you guess.
“Everyone here’s overage, Potter, and they’re all prepared to take the risk.”
Taking a deep breath, you focus back on your anchor. Remus’ hand is honestly the only thing keeping you from succumbing to a total breakdown.
“Let’s have no more arguments! Time’s wearing on. I want a few of your hairs, boy, now.”
“But this is mad!” Harry laughs humorlessly. “There’s no need—“
“No need!” You dad snarls. “With You-Know-Who out there and half the Ministry on his side? Potter, if we’re lucky, he’ll have swallowed the fake bait and he’ll be planning to ambush you on the thirtieth, but he’d be mad not to have a Death Eater or two keeping an eye out, it’s what I’d do. They might not be able to get at you or this house while your mother’s charm holds, but it’s about to break and they know the rough position of this place. Our only chance is to use decoys. Even You-Know-Who can’t split himself into seven.”
You let out a sigh, watching as he quickly glances at his friends.
“So, Potter—some of your hair, if you please.”
Still, he’s hesitant.
“Now!” Your dad barks, causing Harry to jump ever so slightly.
Silently, Harry brings a hand up to the top of his head and yanks at his hair as hard as he can, effectively pulling tufts of hair out. He barely even winces.
“Good.” Mad-Eye limps over to him, his prosthetic clanging against the white tiles. He waves the flask in front of him. “Straight in here, if you please.”
He drops them in and as the potion bubbles and sizzles, Ron and Hermione take a glance over his shoulders.
“Right then, all the fake Potters line up over here, then.” Mad-Eye grunts.
Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, and Fleur casually line up in the kitchen like they aren’t participating in something that might just kill them.
You also notice someone missing.
“We’re one short.” Remus observes.
“Here.” Hagrid grunts, shoving his way through, practically dragging Mundungus by the collar of his brown and dirty robes. He’s placed next to Fleur, who promptly shifts to stand between the twins. You don’t blame her.
“I told you,” Mundungus complains. “I’d sooner be a protector.”
“Shut it.” Mad-Eye growls. “As I’ve already told you, you spineless worm, any Death Eater we run into will be aiming to capture Potter, not kill him. Dumbledore always said You-Know-Who would want to finish Potter in person. It’ll be the protectors who have got the most to worry about, the Death Eaters’ll want to kill them.”
A cold chill runs down your spine. You were to be paired with another protector, mostly because your dad wanted you to be protected as well as the Potter you were guarding. In any other situation you would’ve argued against it, that you were more than capable of handling it all on your own, but this was different. You were absolutely terrified of being on your own.
It’s quiet as Mad-Eye pours the Polyjuice Potion into separate glasses. When the six of them drink the space is filled with gags and gasps as they morph into Harry Potter.
The Harry’s being to change, but you’re too caught up in your own thoughts to pay attention to any witty remarks. Anxiety courses through your veins and your foot taps against the floor.
When all of them are done, Mad-Eye starts announcing the pairs.
“The pairs will be as follows.” He declares, one eyes trained in the parchment in front of him, the other gazing at everyone. “Mundungus will be traveling with me by broom—“
“Why am I with you?” Demands a Harry in the back.
“Because you’re the one that needs watching!” You shout, glaring at the form that now backs away.
“Arthur and Fred—“
“I’m George!” Laughs one of the Harry’s. “Can’t even tell us apart when we’re Harry!”
“Sorry, George—“
“I’m only yanking your wand, I’m Fred really—“
“Enough messing around!” Mad-Eye growls. “The other one—Fred or George or whoever you are—you’re with Remus.”
You bump shoulders with the man next to you.
“Miss Delacour—“
“I’m taking Fleur on a thestral.” Bill interjects. “She’s not that fond of brooms.”
“Miss Granger with Kingsley and (Y/n), again on a thestral—“
Hermione smiles warmly at you and Kingsley, though it’s actually Harry’s crooked grin.
You aren’t surprised with who your father’s paired you with, Kingsley was honestly the only person he trusted with his life. He felt safest with the two of you together. And Hermione was resourceful as well, making the three of you probably the best team.
“Which leaves you and me, Ron!” Tonk’s cheers, hair fluctuating between pink and orange.
Ron, however, doesn’t look too pleased with the setup.
Harry and Hagrid are of course paired up together on his motorbike.
“I make it three minutes until we’re supposed to leave.” Your father grunts, glancing at his pocket watch. “No point locking the back door, it won’t keep the Death Eaters out when they come looking...come on...”
You turn to Remus, eyes suddenly brimming with tears. The lump in your throat makes it hard to breathe.
“You stay safe, alright?” You whisper, voice cracking.
“Hey, look at me, love.” He utters softly. A finger rests on the bottom of your chin, faces close together. Reluctantly you bring your gaze up to his own honey brown ones, shining with unshed tears. “We’ll be alright, yeah? We’ll be fine.” He tried his best to be convincing, he really does, but it falls flat.
Whatever movement is happening around you fades away.
“I love you, Remus.” You force out almost breathlessly. You might tell him this everyday but he needs to know. He needs to understand it.
“I love you, (Y/n).” He kisses you, lips chapped against your own, but it doesn’t even matter. “I’ll see you soon.”
Hesitantly, the two of you part, him to one of the twins and you to your father.
While everyone else is preparing and saying possibly their final words, your father stands alone, surveying the space.
“Let me have a look at you, yeah?” He grunts, eyes raking over your figure as you approach. “Just like your mother.”
“Mum probably would’ve thought this was a stupid idea too.” You attempt to joke.
You father rests his heavy hands on your shoulders, the weight oddly comforting.
“Yeah well, she thought all my plans were stupid.” He mutters. “She’d be proud, y’know? Fighting for what’s right.”
Your lip trembles which your father notices immediately.
“Oh, c’mere.” He wraps his arms around you, engulfing you in a rare hug.
Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody was the best Auror out there with a tough exterior that frightened most to death, but he was always a soft and caring father when it came to you.
“Don’t cry, (Y/n), hm?” His scruffy chin rests on top of your head. “I love ya, I know I don’t say it too often, but I do. I’m so proud...” His own gruff voice catches at the end.
“I love you too, dad.” You sniff, pulling away and wiping your eyes with your sleeves. “You’ll be alright with Mundungus?”
“Eh, the little bastard’s harmless.” He shrugs, trying to wipe his own eye quickly. “If you don’t come back in one piece, Kingsley’ll never see the light of day, though.”
“Wouldn’t expect anything less from you.” You chuckle.
Mad-Eye glances at his watch. “Damnit.” He mutters. “We’ve got to go. Stay safe, (Y/n).”
“You too, dad.” You reply, making your way to Hermione and Kingsley at your ride.
Your thestral is dark and practically skin and bone like usual. Being in two iterations of the Order of the Phoenix has unfortunately granted you to see threstrals in all their hauntingly beautiful glory.
“Good luck, everyone!” Mad-Eye shouts. “See you all in about an hour at the Burrow! On the count of three. One...two...THREE!”
You hang on tightly to the Harry in front of you, Kingsley guiding the animal to soar into the night sky, the wind almost taking your breath away. You have your wand at the ready, pointing into the void.
Hands shake both from the cold atmosphere and the nerves running through you.
All you do is blink, and five hooded figures have you surrounded, deathly close to you.
“We’ve got company!” You shout over the roaring wind.
You and Hermione fire off spells, Kingsley trying to multitask, but getting away from the cloaked figures was a bit more important.
The two of you try to dodge the best you can, but it’s hard when you’re sitting on the back of a horse.
You don’t know what you cast in the moment, but your body seizes and suddenly one drops like an anvil to the ground below.
The bone chilling feeling of death overtakes you and You-Know-Who, shrouded in a black cloak, quickly rushes past the three of you.
The battle seems like it lasts forever, the back and forth of spells almost unbearable, but eventually you make it to your meeting point, completely exhausted.

YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE LOVE WHEN YOU CAN’T STOP LOVING YOUR WIFE EVEN WHEN SHE GROWS A PAIR OF KINTAMA
A GinTsu fanfic
Word Count: 8072
A/N: This fic is long. And messy. And I wanted to write this for a really long time. Hope you guys enjoy! <3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Huh? When did I get here..?’
Standing under the scorching afternoon sun, this is the first thought that crosses the silver-haired samurai’s mind. The familiar crossroad bustled with people as Gintoki scrunches his eyes and shields them from the blinding sunlight. Not long ago was he lying on his precious couch in his cozy little apartment, so how come is he now standing on the middle of Yoshiwara? Oh yes, he was already on his way to pay his busy wifey a visit.
‘Must be the heat, I might’ve lost track of when I reached here.’ Rubbing his eyes which seems to itch a little, the man decided to make his way towards the infamous tea-house. It has been months since he last visited Yoshiwara but the true reason he’s here today is because he wants to see his wife. For the last few weeks, Tsukuyo has been coming home late due to work and to his disappointment - and sure enough, hers as well - they hardly get the chance to spend time together.
Of course, like always, Gintoki stays the same, good, supportive husband who doesn’t constantly nag his wife about her workaholic nature and busy schedule but right now, perhaps, he has started to feel a little lonely. And as cheesy as it sounds in his thirty-five years old mind, Gintoki really misses her. Not just the sex or the long, passionate kisses, but he really misses spending quality time with her. Seriously, when was the last time the two sat down and read their favorite manga series together? More importantly, their second anniversary is only a few dates away and this time, he wants to surprise her with something special. Something that can help the Tsukuyo take a break from her job and relax.
The former city of night appears as same as ever with people busy with their daily work. A few Hyakka members patrolled the streets, in case of any transgression. However, far away in front of another tea house, Gintoki catches a small crowd of woman swarming a large, tanned man, most likely flirting with him while he seems to be going along with them playful pokes and giggles. Due to his back facing him, he can’t get a clear look on the unfamiliar man except for his wide back and blond hair which perfectly contrasted his bronze skin. No wonder so many women were flocking around him, he appears to be quite a good-looking man.
“Oh Gin-san, how have you been?” The delighted owner of the tea house was greets him as he walks inside.
“Usual, I guess.” The man simply replied and takes a seat on one of the benches, facing her. “I just saw this guy outside. You guys hired a new bodyguard?”
At his curious question, Hinowa gives him a confused look. “No. We haven’t had new recruits for quite some time now.”
“Oh.”
“So, Gin-san.” Hinowa asks, changing the subject. “What brings you here?”
While Hinowa gives him her signature smile, Gintoki finds the situation quite odd. Wouldn’t a teasing “Here to see Tsukuyo~” with her playful smirk have made more sense?
‘Perhaps, she’s gotten used to it.’ His mind reasoned back as he brushed off the thought.
“Uh…well, I was basically here to meet Tsukuyo but I was thinking of taking her on a trip for our anniversary.” Looking down, he nervously rubs the back of his neck. He may have been a married man now but even still, showing his rather romantic side of his in front of anyone except Tsukuyo makes him a little…flustered.
“You know how she is with her ‘I don’t want anythin’’ and stuff. That woman has been working constantly for ages and she really needs to get some rest! I never thought choosing a gift for a woman would be this tough, let alone surprising her but it’s her we’re talking about after all….So, I thought maybe you can suggest me something.”
After finishing up his chattering, Gintoki looks back up at her with a flushed face, only to find Hinowa confusedly blinking at him. “…Eh? Anniversary?”
The man knits his brows. “Don’t tell me you forgot?”
“Forgot what?”
“My and Tsukuyo’s anniversary.”
“But when did you get marri-“
“What’s goin’ on?” A deep and surprisingly familiar voice came from behind the silver-haired man.
“Oh, Tsukuo. Did you know Gin-san got married? He just told me.”
“What? When?”
“I don’t know…maybe he’s talking about someone else…”
This casual exchange of words sounded strange. But what sounded stranger is the name of the man who is talking with Hinowa. Who is now standing right beside him. Perplexed at this sudden change of events, Gintoki slowly turns to his side to find the very same tanned and muscular man he has seen before entering the tea house standing who now looked at him and gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder.
“Yo, Mr. Husband. Did ya forget to invite us or what?” The man named Tsukuo teases him.
And Gintoki felt all the blood drain off his face.
He knew something was off. Really off. And as he got the closer look of the man’s face, the more he finds himself horrified. “W-who are you?”
The large man quirked one of his brows and then looks back at Hinowa, directing his thumb at Gintoki. “Is he okay?”
“He looked fine before. Gin-san, you look pale. Are you okay?”
No. No, he isn’t. Because this doesn’t look right. And no matter how much he tries, his brain has now failed to process the entire situation as Gintoki finds his eyes fixated at the buff man who looks shockingly familiar. Blond hair, violet eyes, the familiar black kimono decorated with autumn leaves and the infamous scar that he has gotten accustomed to kissing - Gintoki has been seeing all these features for years now.
In his wife.
Pointing a shaky finger at the large man, Gintoki felt his voice turn into a mere, almost squeaky, whimper “Hinowa-san….what happened to my Tsukuyo?” He could no longer contain the shock and disbelief in his voice. No way is this happening!
“Tsukuyo?” At this, the raven-haired woman looks puzzled. “But that’s Tsukuo.”
“I-I know..but…did some strange light fell from the sky and changed her sex? Like how it happened last time in the Dekobokko arc?” Each syllable he stutters makes his heart race a little faster. “What happened to Tsukuyo?”
“….Gin-san, what’re talking about? There’s no one named Tsukuyo here.”
His mouth falls agape. “Hinowa-san, please don’t joke like this.”
“But….I’m not joking, Gin-san….”
“Then…you’re saying my wife…is now…a man..?”
Suddenly he feels a large hand on his shoulder, probing him to look at the other direction which he was so badly trying to avoid. “Are ya outta your mind, ya bastard?” His said wife says up loudly, sounding quite offended by his genuine question. “I’ve always been a man.”
.
..
…
‘WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?’
*****
“Of course Tsukuo-dono has always been a man.”
“Who doesn’t know about the King of Night in Edo, Danna?”
“Gin-san~ Why are you suddenly so interested in that bastard when I’m right here~”
“Oi, Sarutobi. I’m right here - By the way, why’re you asking around if Tsukuo has always been a guy or not? Did you lose your memories or something?”
Nobody remembers. Nobody.
For the last three hours, Gintoki has been running around the city of Edo after dashing out of Yoshiwara, just so he can find out whether the unearthly Dekobokko cultist have made their comeback or not. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort has happened. In fact, after asking Kyubei, Saachan and the Shinsengumi who once turned into the opposite gender knows nothing this uncanny event of his wife turning into the male version of her. Actually, his wife never swapped genders even when they did.
And every time he frantically asked the same damn question, their responses also stayed the same - “But Tsukuo has always been a man. We don’t know anyone named Tsukuyo.”
The statement itself is like a tight slap on his face. But what hurts more is that she is no longer here. Nobody remembers their marriage and…nobody remembers her.
His ring is gone.
All the wedding pictures and albums he once had in their little house are all missing.
And now that he looks at the empty shelf where they once had a beautiful framed picture of them kissing on their wedding day, Gintoki slumps down on the floor as he ponders about this absurdity he is currently in. Wasn’t it just this morning when he saw his wife leave for work before giving him a quick peck on his lips? Wasn’t it just a few hours ago when was planning to surprise his wife on their second anniversary? But now it feels like he is in a completely different world. And suddenly he is back to the same ol’ single and unmarried Sakata Gintoki who no longer has the amazing badass blond bombshell of a wife by his side.
In this sorry state, Gintoki recalls a memory from the morning where his favorite weather girl, Ketsuno Ana was announcing today’s horoscope predictions.
“For Libras, today, you may find yourself in an uncanny situation. Perhaps, your love life will be tested today under very confusing conditions but let me tell you, do not give up hope. As long as you believe in yourself and your partner, everything will turn out just fine.” The woman gave a bright smile from behind the screen as he flicked the TV off.
“ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?” The utterly confused and enraged man yelled at the ceiling without paying any attention to what his neighbors are going to think. Confusing!? No, this is a hellish situation! “OI WRITER! WHY WON’T YOU JUST LET ME LIVE AS A HAPPILY MARRIED MAN!?”
Even breaking the fourth wall didn’t work. Finding himself alone in the bland living room, Gintoki hopelessly looks down on the floor and then at his empty left ring finger, gently rubbing it. He is not a sappy man, never has been, but truthfully, the empty finger does not suit him anymore.
The day he found out Tsukuyo had been in love with him throughout the runtime of the series was the day realized how much of lucky bastard he has been to have someone like her in his life. Idiot he might have been for not acting on his feeling but the day he took his vows was day he promised he will not let go of her. Ever.
‘Then why the hell is this going on…?’
A knock on his door interrupts Gintoki and he lets out a heavy sigh. If it was any other day, he would definitely have answered the door. But right now, ignoring it seems like a better option. Must be the baba is what he thinks and then stands up from his place to go look for some strawberry milk in the fridge. Maybe that can help him cool down…even just a little. Another two knocks, this time louder, tries to get his attention but he chooses not to respond again. No way is he in the mood to have a chat with someone.
“Oi Gintoki! I know you’re in there!” A voice calls out for him. A very familiar voice that he just wants to…avoid right now.
However, his mission fails instantly when another knock comes in, making him rub his already throbbing temple.
Groaning, Gintoki turns the other way to greet the unwanted guest in his house. Well, technically that was her- oh sorry, his house too, but according to the current situation, calling him a guest seems more appropriate. Sliding the main door open - and deep down, wishing it’s Tsukuyo standing there – he finds the male version of his wife nonchalantly smoking from the signature kiseru with his muscular arms folded under his well-toned chest. His blond hair is now tied in a small ponytail and damn, he is a few inches taller than him.
“Why did ya run away like that?” Tsukuo asks, putting down his kiseru. And while he refuses to admit, Gintoki can clearly hear the concern in his voice which seems so…familiar. But this isn’t her.
“Just had something to do.” Shrugging, Gintoki tiredly looks at the man. “I don’t know what I was saying, sorry about that.” He lies, really not in the mood to explain whatever this is. And possibly, this man will not believe him.
“Okaaay.” Tsukuo trails off, confused at his dismissive behavior. “You okay now? You seemed a little off back in Yoshiwara.”
Oh, can he just stop resembling her so much!?
“Yeah. Can you just leave me alone? I’m gonna get some sleep now, my head hurts” He knows he is being an ass but this is for the better. Tiredly, he slides the door close only to find a tight grip on the doorframe and shoves it open again.
“Hey. What’s wrong with you?” Tsukuo asks, slightly annoyed as he bends a little forward to look into the silver-haired man’s eyes. “First you act like you’ve seen a ghost and now you’re actin’ like an asshole?”
Hearing this, a vain pops in his head. He really can’t catch a break, can he? First, he sees his wife turn into this extremely handsome and muscular man who has lost all memories of their marriage and now, he’s supposed to explain why he is acting like this like a madman!?
“So, how else am I supposed to act, huh!? Act like everything’s normal when it’s actually NOT!?”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean!?” Tsukuo snaps back, confused at his sudden outburst. “Isn’t this normal, you moron!?”
“Oh yeah!?” Gintoki grits his teeth, feeling fumes coming out of his ears. “Maybe it would have if my married life hadn’t been suddenly erased from existence!”
“And when the hell did you get married!?”
“ ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO ON 21ST JUNE, AT THE END OF SPRING!” Gintoki screams out, making the passerbys look above at the two men who are now engaged in a heated argument.
“What the-!?”
Scoffing loudly, Gintoki throws his hands up in the air in utter defeat. “See! This is what I’m talking about! A few hours ago, I was a happily married man, planning to surprise my wifey for our second marriage anniversary and suddenly, I see everything is gone! Poof! Vanished in thin air like it NEVER existed!! And the worst part- nobody remembers my marriage, NOT EVEN YOU!”
Tsukuo only returns him another puzzled look. “And how the hell would I remember that!?”
“Because you’re the one I’m married to, damn it!” Frustrated, Gintoki jabs his pointer at the man’s well-built chest, only to realize what just he said and immediately rephrases his statement to, “Or should I say the female version of you.” and awkwardly pulls back his hand. “And now, suddenly she looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger and I’ve no fucking idea how or when it happened! I don’t even have any evidence to prove myself in this…this crazy situation and damn it, this all sounds so ridiculous!”
Silence follows and the two men stare at each other, one giving an extremely baffled look while the other groans in embarrassment. This is not going anywhere.
Covering his face his hands, Gintoki breaths out a long, exhausted sigh. “Listen, I think I need to clear my head. Can you just…go?”
The man doesn’t reply for another few seconds. Perhaps, he’ll just leave him alone now.
“….I’m not going anywhere.”
Gintoki’s ears perk up. Did he really just..?
“And I think it’s better if we talk properly.”
Finally, he looks back at the man’s earnest face. “Eh?”
“Let’s get outside.” His said wife suggests and turns to walk down the stairs. “I think you should tell me what exactly happened. Maybe that can help you clear your head.”
“You believe me?” Gintoki calls out, baffled at how serious he sounds.
“Not completely.” Tsukuo looks back as he steps down the last stair. “But I do know you’re not lying.”
*****
Tsukuo is popular, just like his wife. Very popular.
But fun fact, unlike Tsukuyo, who makes every other lecher look the other way with her intimidating glares, Tsukuo doesn’t seem to mind all these flirtatious wink and compliments that keeps coming at him from the opposite gender.
“You seem to have quite a huge fanbase in Edo.” Gintoki inquires. The two has been walking down the streets of Kabukichou for quite a few minutes now and the extra attention the tanned man keeps garnering is making the silver-haired samurai a little distressed.
“Well, can you blame them?” Tsukuo looks at him, smirking proudly.
“No.” Gintoki shrugs, glancing at another group of women eying Tsukuo, who literally has the body and face of a Greek god. “But I never thought you’d enjoy so much attention.”
“I don’t exactly.” The man casually replies. “But when someone wants to talk and spend time with me, I can’t just say no to them.”
“And you just said the typical playboy line. How convenient.” Gintoki mumbles, not audible enough for the man beside him to hear. He remembers the first time when he met this version of Tsukuyo back in chapter 441 in the Dekkobokko arc. To watch the serious, tsundere woman suddenly turn into a player who shamelessly flirted with his female version was such a shocker.
“Flowers have no beauty nor ugliness. If such a thing does exist, then it’s in the looks of a man that cannot admire both equally.”
“HEY, WHO IS THIS GUY!? A VIRGIN WOMAN SUDDENLY TURNED INTO A PLAYER!!!”
Gintoki lets out a sigh. Even though back then such a thing happened, the situation was, more or less, temporary. Tsukuyo’s sudden personality change was only limited to that one arc. However, from what he has come to understand here, this Tsukuo has always been…Tsukuo. Sneaking a glance at the man, he again finds him smile at another woman on the sideways who flushes bright red and shyly hides her face behind her palms.
‘Yup, this is not Tsukuyo…’
After another few minutes of silence, Tsukuo asks. “So, you were saying I’m your wife?”
“No. I’m saying my wife got replaced by you.” Gintoki replies bluntly.
Unnoticed, the man rolls his eyes. “Whatever. Do you remember what exactly happened?”
“What do you mean what exactly happened? I was on my way to meet my wife, but then I see you and suddenly everybody has forgotten about Tsukuyo and our marriage.”
“Yeah, you already said that. But I’m asking did something happen when you were on your way?”
Gintoki knits his eyebrows. “…Huh?”
“Did you meet any…shady fortune teller on your way?” Tsukuo inquires seriously, glancing at him.
“Umm..nope.” Comes his honest answer.
“Then did you inhale or drink something strange before?”
“Nooo….”
“Then what about the headaches you were getting?”
“Most probably because of stress. What about it?”
Tsukuo shrugs. “I don’t know. I thought maybe it’s some sort of a side-effect of some ‘magic spell’ you’ve been put into?”
“This doesn’t make any sense, you know.” Gintoki scowls at his absurd speculations.
“Well, this is Gintama. Remember when the animation staff decided to freeze you for an entire episode due to budget issues?” Tsukuo points casually.
“Yeah, I do remember tha-“
“Plus, this is a poorly written fanfi-“
“Please don’t mention the obvious to our readers so casually. It can ruin their reading experience.”
Tsukuo sighs. “So, nothing out of ordinary happened?”
“No.” Except for his horoscope coming true which he cannot tell him.
“Tsk. That’s a very cheap way to move the plot though.”
“Would you stop being fussy about the plot already?”
“I was just pointing out the errors.” Tsukuo says as a matter of fact.
“You’re starting to sound like Onishi-kun now.”
Tsukuo grumbles. “Fine, I’ll stop.”
“Good.”
Even like this, the nitpicky and logical side of her is still clearly there. And a part of him feels happy that it is there. As the two continue to stroll around the streets of Edo, Gintoki finds his lips curl upward for the first time in the last few hours, unaware of the blond man looking at him with him own small smile.
*****
The afternoon heat is now replaced by the breezy evening evening as the two make their way to a public park. Gintoki has no idea why they are still hanging out together. Or why Tsukuo still hasn’t left for work? Or why they are suddenly in a park and why does it feel like a date? Well, obviously he does not mind spending time with him – it’s actually quite refreshing – but still, Tsukuyo has always been a busy woman, a workaholic who doesn’t leave her duties behind, so, shouldn’t Tsukuo be like that too?
“Why’re we here?” Gintoki asks as he watches Tsukuo taking a seat on a nearby bench and stretches out.
Tsukuo, to his question, gives him a blank stare. “Because I’m tired of walking.”
“You aren’t even wearing any heels!” Gintoki frowns, pointing at his zori. “Tsukuyo can jump twenty buildings on her four-inch heeled leather boots and won’t even beat a sweat.”
Listening to his sudden proud comment about his wife, Tsukuo gives an amused smile. “Oh, that sounds interesting. That’s what I expect from the female me.” He gives himself a few pats on his shoulders.
Gintoki scoffs at his prideful gesture. “You’ve no idea how she’s like.”
Scooting a little to the side, Tsukuo taps on the empty seat right to him. “Wanna tell me how she’s like then?”
There is a moment of silence between the two before Gintoki walks towards the bench. “Oh, she’s just…amazing.” Taking a seat beside him, he grins widely, suddenly at a loss of words to describe his wife. “Sometimes even I end up thinking how I landed a woman like her.”
“You sound like a love-sick puppy.” Tsukuo chortles lightly.
“Well, I am a lucky man.” Gintoki shrugs, surprisingly unabashed by Tsukuo’s previous remark. There is a familiar sense of security in his company even though the man is the very much different from the woman he has fallen for.
“Well, you did marry me. Of course, that makes you a lucky man.”
His cocky response made Gintoki scoff in dismay. The moment he was starting to think they were a little alike, Tsukuo once again made him rethink his words.
“I didn’t marry a smug bastard. She’s the complete opposite of you.” Gintoki proudly replies, ready to explain his point. “Beautiful, serious, workaholic and definitely not a flirt - that woman can kill a lecher just by looking at him her venomous stare. And she’s called the Shinigami Tayuu in Yoshiwara. Well, formally, but you get how scary she is by that name. Hell, even I once became a victim of her wrath for ‘accidentally’ groping her before we started going out. Fortunately, she didn’t kill me then….”
Memories of the time flash in his mind as a soft chuckle escapes his lips. “Actually, it was my fault so I really can’t blame her….There’s always been so much more. She’s always been so strong and kind and…so different from me. Someone that I thought a broke man like me could never have. But she still stayed…right there with me….That’s what made me fall for her.”
“…You really love talking about her, don’t you?” Tsukuo asks, smiling at the man.
Gintoki sighs, smirking proudly. “Boasting about my wife once in a while isn’t bad.”
Soon, silence falls between them. Without having any idea of the kind of face the man sitting beside him is making, Gintoki lets his eyes stay fixated on the bushes right across their seat. For some reason, he has been rambling quite a lot today. Was he always this chatty? No, as far as he can remember, he was not. Probably, it’s the heavy feeling in his chest that’s making him so talkative.
“…and, who proposed first?” Tsukuo first breaks the silence.
This catches the silver-haired samurai’s attention.
“Of course, I did.” Gintoki replies, turning to see the man giving him a shocked look that made his eye twitch. “Oi, don’t gimme that look! I saved for the ring!”
At this, Tsukuo gives him an impressed smile. “Who’d have thought, Sakata Gintoki would become such a hopeless romantic for his precious wife?”
This time, the playfulness in his voice makes Gintoki grunt in embarrassment but he chooses to answer anyway. “For her, it’s worth it.”
“Umm-hmm. But I’m pretty sure she made most of payment during the wedding.” Tsukuo cleverly remarks.
Gintoki sighs, nodding in agreement. “Yes. Yes, she did.”
Sneaking a glance at the blond man, Gintoki finds the blond blankly gazing up at the sky, a small smile adoring his lips as he closes his eyes and breathes heavily. Albeit all the striking differences, he couldn’t help but find a sense of secrecy surrounding him, much like her. And right now, his serene expression reminds him of the way she would sometimes get lost in her thoughts.
“Missing her?” Tsukuo asks after a moment of silence.
Upon hearing the question, Gintoki sadly smiles. “Of course…Plus, we haven’t been spending much time together recently because of her work so….yeah.”
“…you still don’t know what’s going on?”
“Nope. But my horoscope did say it’s gonna be a strange day.” Gintoki confesses as a dry laugh escapes his lips. However, Tsukuo doesn’t inquire him any further.
Suddenly, a sense of uneasiness envelops Gintoki. He quietly watches the kids run back to their homes while the sky now appears to be painted in a deep shade of orange, the sun slowly disappearing in the broad horizon. It is strange how everything seems so normal to everyone but him; everything here feels like a strange dream he is unable to wake up from.
For the last few hours, being in Tsukuo’s company didn’t make him feel lonely in any manner. No matter how different he is here, there is a sense of peace in with him.
However, this is not his reality. This is not the place he belongs to. And this person, at the end, does not have any feelings for him.
“I think I should go back.” Standing up from his seat, Gintoki decides to take his leave. A part of him fears if he stays any longer, he would forever remain stuck here.
As he walks away, Tsukuo call out to him. “Oi, where are you going?”
Gintoki can hear his footsteps now. “Home. And I’m hungry.” He replies without turning back.
This still doesn’t stop the man from following him. “How about you come with me to Yoshiwara? It’s better than staying up like some loner in your little house.”
This time, Gintoki turns around, skeptically looking at him. “Don’t you have work?”
“Nope.” Tsukuo shrugs and walks to him. “Hinowa told me to take the day off.”
Well, that kinda hurt. He didn’t even come on his own accord, that’s how bland their relationship seems now.
“Well. You’re free to return back to work, then.” Gintoki waves his hand dismissively, ready to leave again.
“There’s a new izakaya.” His immediate response stops Gintoki on his tracks as he hears his stomach growl hungrily. “My treat.”
*****
By the time the two reached Yoshiwara, it has already turned dark outside as the full moon shone brightly above, illuminating the night sky. The streets appear busier than it was during the afternoon as the two make their way to. But before that, Gintoki gets to hear all the Tsukuo fangirls welcoming him back to Yoshiwara after his oh so long, tiresome day. Damn, nobody even bats an eye on the Savior of Yoshiwara anymore.
“Tsukuo-sama, how about you spend your night with me?”
“There’s a new kimono I received, I’d love~ to show it to you~”
“But I wanted to serve you sake and enjoy watching the full moon with you~”
Damn it, he hated how Tsukuo is like a chic magnet. Yes, the man is handsome and of course, he cannot blame the ladies for being smitten over him but he has been seeing since the afternoon and now all these flirty gestures are starting to get on his nerves. First, he brings him here – basically bribes him with free food - and then, pulls off this shit!
Picking up his pace, Gintoki makes his way through the crowd, leaving Tsukuo behind. If that blondie is going to take his sweet time with his precious ladies, he might as well search for this new bar and get something to eat all by himself.
“Oh Gin-san!” A familiar voice call for him. His mind was so delved into Tsukuo’s apparent bachelor life that he forgot to notice he was passing by the teahouse. “Are you doing okay? ” Hinowa asks sweetly, walking towards him.
“Um…yeah. I’m-I’m fine. That was- I was asking those questions f-for a friend of mine. Sorry for leaving like that.” Gintoki nervously chuckles, scratching his head. It’s better if he just stay quite instead of bombarding her with another set of ridiculous questions like before.
“I see. That’s good to hear. I was worried.” The rave-haired woman politely smiles.
“Um, yeah. Tsukuo mentioned.” There is a hint of disappointment in his voice as his eyes fall on the dusty street. “But you didn’t need to tell him to take day off for me.”
“Oh, but he was way more worried than me. At first, he just simply went back to work when you left. But I could tell how much he was worried.” Hinowa instantly replies, catching Gintoki’s attention. “You know how that man is. Always working and acting like he doesn’t care when he actually does.”
Baffled, Gintoki looks back up to find the woman giving him her signature smile. “You mean-”
“AHHH HINOWA!” The loud voice quickly interrupts their little chat as Gintoki finds a heavy arm casually crash around his shoulders, making the poor man wince. “I’m treating this dude for dinner at Sato-san’s place.” Tsukuo fakes an excited grin.
Not noticing the slight blush on Tsukuo’s face in the dim light, Hinowa beams excitedly. “Oh, that’s great! Their bar is right around the corner. You must taste their kushiyaki, Gin-san -- Tsukuo, don’t forget!”
“Yes ma’am!” Tsukuo obediently notes and starts dragging Gintoki by his neck. “Now let’s get you something to eat!”
“I can walk on my own, damn it!” Comes Gintoki’s grumbling as he frees himself from Tsukuo’s death grip.
“Yeah, yeah, ojii-san.”
“Who’re ya calling ojii-san, bastard!?”
As the two continue their banter on the way, Hinowa lets out a chuckle, waving at them. “Enjoy you two!”
A few moments later, the two enter the new izakaya which appears quite crowded due to its growing popularity. The interior seems to be pretty much similar to Otose’s snack bar – with a bar counter stretching to their right and a few dining tables to their left with customers enjoying their meal – the lively atmosphere feels refreshing. But what catches Gintoki’s interest is a savory aroma of grilled meat around the room that almost made his mouth water.
Walking up to the bar counter, Gintoki takes a seat on one of the stools with Tsukuo sitting beside him. He watches the man take his kimono off and place it on lap, exposing his well-toned biceps that can make every man in the bar look away in envy. Yes, even him.
“Ojii-san, two beef kushiyaki and one sake.” Tsukuo signals the old man behind the counter who quickly responds with a “Coming right up!” with a big smile.
Gintoki gives him a surprised look. “You don’t drink?”
“Nope. Never have.” Tsukuo honestly replies. “Does Tsukuyo?”
“Oh, yes! She loves drinking.” the silver-haired samurai exclaims, remembering all the times when they trashed countless bars together after getting wasted. “But that woman is terrible at handling her liquor.”
This catches his interest. “Really?”
“Yeah!” Gintoki shivers at the thought of his drunken wife’s face. “Give her one drop of alcohol and she turns into a savage beast! I got my head smashed by a bottle of sake when we first had a drink together.”
Tsukuo lets out a chortle. “Damn, I guess it’s better for me to not drink then.”
“Good choice. I call her ‘the drunk terminator’.” Gintoki proudly declares the infamous nickname he once gave to his lovely wife.
The old man places their order in front of them to which Tsukuo gives him a generous nod before turning his attention back to their little chat. “That’s why you called me Arnold Schwarzenegger’s lookalike back when I came to your house.”
Gintoki chuckles and picks a kushiyaki from his place. “Who else am I supposed to compare the brawny male version of my wife with, then?”
“I’ll take that as a compliment.” With that said, the two dig in to their plates. “Itadakimasu!”.
Taking a bite of the flavorful kushiyaki, Gintoki hums in delight. “This is really good - Ojii-san, I’ll have another of this!”
“You really don’t say no to free food, do you?” Tsukuo shakes his head, not surprised by this habit of his at all.
“Well, you offered.” Gintoki slyly replies with a mouthful to which Tsukuo feels his lips curl.
The two then continue to eat in silence, with Gintoki sneaking a few glances at the distracted man who now has again started smoking from his kiseru after the old man offered his an ashtray. Something about this entire day feels off and yet, with him, he felt at ease. Still does, actually. Perhaps, it’s because Tsukuo’s the only one who knows about his condition. Or perhaps, he’s just trying to deny the fact that he’s, at the end, the same person deep down inside that he has always felt at ease with.
Gintoki recalls the horoscope news– your love will be tested – that’s what it said. Maybe, now he understands what the test really means. But to say it out loud to him; wouldn’t that make things awkward? Because, at the end, this Tsukuyo has no reminisce of the things they have shared together…And the last things he wants to be called is a creep by his own wife.
‘Just talk to him, damn it!’ Slapping himself inside his head, Gintoki pours a glass of sake for himself and chugs it down in one go, loudly exhaling at how unusually strong it tastes. However, before he could bring up the subject, he watches a middle-aged woman wearing a lavish kimono walk to their direction.
“Tsukuo-san, I didn’t expect you to be here.” The woman stands to his right, her silky tone didn’t going unnoticed by Gintoki as she casually puts a hand on Tsukuo’s shoulder.
Something inside Gintoki catches fire.
“Oh, Kirishima-san, what brings you here?” Standing up from his seat, Tsukuo places his kimo and generously greets the lady who, not so surprisingly, reminds Gintoki of a jorogumo. What about personal space- she even has the audacity to stand so damn close to him.
“Oh, nothing, nothing.” The said sophisticated Kirishima-san replies as she coyly places a hand on his chest. “You haven’t been here the whole day, I was looking for you.”
Gintoki chugs down another cup, the burning sensation in his body no longer because of the alcohol.
“Oh, um, I’ve been a little busy.” Tsukuo nervously glances at Gintoki who seems to have been declared invisible by the woman while he continues to drink his sake. He looks furious. “Is there something that you wanted to talk about?”
“Oh, yes. Regarding the donation work.” Kirishima-san says courteously. “If it’s okay, would you like to come outside for a little?”
“Ah, yes, I almost forgot about it.” Tsukuo apologetically says as he escorts the vixen-like lady outside of the bar. Whether it’s just work or not, this Kirishima-lady definitely has ulterior motives.
From the corner of his eyes, Gintoki watches the two chat about something that’s pretty much inaudible to him. The woman says something and Tsukuo nods. Then Tsukuo says something and the woman flirtatiously giggles. From this little view, he could say how badly she wants to get into his pants. However, he feels his blood boil when the woman starts to seductively rub her hand over his left exposed arm, as if he’s her little plaything. And Tsukuo doesn’t seem to mind at all!
‘Hah! He really is a player!’ Immediately, Gintoki looks away before he could see that Tsukuo has politely taken the woman’s hand off his arm.
Scoffing, he drinks up the rest of the liquor from the bottle, sighing in satisfaction. Again, this wasn’t the first time he is seeing this side of Tsukuo but it would be a lie to say none of it…disturbs him. Not even a slightest. Of course, he understands the two are different and never can he ask the person to be someone else but still, isn’t this the same person? At this point, he really cannot comprehend any of such thoughts. And by now, he can feel the alcohol kick in, making his mind all dizzy and muddled.
“Ya know, Ojii-san, I’ve a wife! She’s jus’ the best in the world!” Gintoki slurs in front of the old man, his mind now all foggy. Never had one bottle of sake been enough for him. But tonight, it’s somehow started to show its effects.
“You are a lucky man, sir.” The old man smiles at him.
“Right~” Gintoki hiccups, a goofy smile now plastered on his flushed face. “And she’s called the Shinigami Tayuu, isn’t that cool!?”
“That’s a very great name, sir.”
“Wanna show me where she is?” Ginotoki giddily whispers, just like a little child who has found lost treasure.
The man politely nods “Of course.”
Directing his thumb outside the door, Gintoki points at the Tsukuo with lopsided grin. “There! That man with the blond hair my wife!”
Hearing his little declaration, the old man laughs rather awkwardly while Gintoki continues to ramble. “Isn’t that funny? Like, she was this really sexy, badass woman before but poof, she’s a sexy, badass man now! And seriously, I don’t ‘ave any problem with tha’. But she doesn’t even remember anything! She doesn’t even love me anymore and is now flirting with other girls!” Slapping the counter loudly, he lets out a dry laugh, making the customers nearby look at his direction.
“Sir, I think you’ve had enough drink today. It’s better if you return back home with Tsukuo-dono.” The old man politely says, now giving him a concerned look as if he is now some drunk who has lost all his senses. Seriously, who was he kidding? There is no chance anyone will ever believe his words. And truthfully, a drunk’s confession is generally considered gibberish.
Exhausted and slightly dizzy, Gintoki stands up from his seat. “That guy will pay.” With that said, he leaves the bar quietly.
*****
Staggering on his feet, Gintoki somehow manages to get out of the flashy and lively streets and enters a dark, deserted alleyway. The full moon shines brightly above him, fortunately enough for him to not lose his steps and stumble down on his face like some cheap, homeless drunk. His head aches and at this moment where he has no solution to whatever-this-is, giving up seems like the only option.
“Oi, Gintoki!” The familiar voice call to him…yet again. And just like this afternoon, he wants to avoid it.
“Will ya just wait!?” Tsukuo yells again, his breathing heavy as Gintoki finally stops at his place and faces him.
“…What do ya want?”
“Why did you leave like that?” Tsukuo asks, slowly walking closer to him.
“You seemed busy with the pretty lady so I left.” Comes his cold response, making Tsukuo stop just a few steps away from him.
Gintoki expected a cocky laugh. Instead he finds Tsukuo gravely looking at his direction.
“…it was work. Really.”
Oh yeah, sure it was work. It’s always work. Whether it’s in here or there, it’s always work! And goddamn it, he was so tired of listening. All he has been trying to do for the last few weeks is to be a good, supportive husband who does not nag his wife for overworking or not spending enough time with him. If he’s being honest, he was angry, really angry at everything. But the moment he tries to make things better, some stupid horoscope predictions decides to test his affection for his wife and now, he’s stuck here with an alternate version of his wife.
Despite all this, he decides to stay quite again. No way is he going for another round of ranting session. Exhaling sharply, Gintoki rubs his temple again. “You know what, instead of doing all this, I should be looking for a way out. But for some dumbass reason, I ended up spending the entire day with you and watched you smug ass getting constantly flocked by your fangirls who you just shamelessly flirt with while I’m constantly reminded that you are not the person I love when I know it’s not true!”
….He failed. He ended up rambling again.
And so to calm himself, Gintoki breathes in. A long, deep breathe. While the man standing in front of him freezes on spot, dumbfounded and speechless.
“…were you jealous?” Tsukuo finally finds his voice back and carefully takes a step forward.
“Of course I was jealous!” The permhead finally admits.
“Why?” And another step forward…
Gintoki scoffs. “Really? You’re asking me ‘why’?”
“Yes.” And another…
He sighs loudly. “Because I love you.” And Tsukuo smiles.
“Even when you are this flirty, cocky man! Even when you don’t remember a thing about us! Even when I know that you don’t love me here! Because whether you’re Tsukuo or Tsukuyo, deep down, I know it’s you. It will always be you. The same person that I happily devoted my heart to and there’s nothing that I ever want to cha-“
Before Gintoki can finish, Tsukuo’s presses his lips against his, shutting him up in an instant. And Gintoki freezes on his spot, his hands awkwardly dangling around his sides while his eyes widen in surprise. There is nothing too fierce and hungry about the kiss; it feels like the ones they always share after waking up, chaste and full of love. Slowly, Gintoki closes his eyes and returns the kiss back with the same favor as his. Unlike the soft and pink ones, his lips are slightly chapped. And yet, the taste and smell of smoke he has so gotten used to is enough to tell him that yes, he’s kissing the right person.
Shortly later, the two pull back. Panting, Tsukuo puts his head on Gintoki’s shoulder, hiding his now flushed face as they silently stand there, savoring this little moment.
“It’s good to hear that you still love me.” Tsukuo is the first one to break the silence, his voice a little muffled.
‘Still?’ Gintoki knits his brows, confused as he recalls the strange horoscope predication.
“Guess I’m bound to fall for you no matter what.” He can hear the relief in his voice as Tsukuo slowly raises his head. “Thank you for not giving up on me.”
The test, this strange world…His smile said everything. “You knew…?”
Tsukuo doesn’t answer his question. Instead, he just lovingly smiles at him and says something else as Gintoki feels his vision get blurry, his face slowly disappearing before him as his voice gets replaced by the one he has been hearing for years.
“Wake up, sleepyhead. I’ve got something to tell you.”
*****
The stiff sofa cushion has made his back ache painfully as Gintoki slowly sits up, stretching his arms and legs to loosen up his sore muscles. Sluggishly, he scans the surrounding to find the bulb above him glowing and outside the window, its pitch black, suggesting its night by now. He doesn’t even remember when he fell asleep. The TV is right around the corner as always and so is the little shelf. And there are two frames kept there- one of the Yororzuya and the other of his wedding day…
“You’re awake.” His eyes snap open at the familiar….and feminine voice of his wife who emerges from their bedroom right behind him. Turing around, he finds Tsukuyo walk up to him with her nightgown on.
In an instant, Gintoki jumps up from his seat and rushes to his wife, embraces her in a tight hug and almost making her lose balance. “OhmyGod, Gintoki! What’re you doing?”
Even her yelp didn’t make his huge grin disappear as he held his wife close, breathing in her freshly bathed scent. “I missed you!”
“H-huh? W-what’s the matter?” His sudden confession made the woman turn a deep shade of pink.
Pulling back from the hug, he lovingly presses his lips against hers. “I’m saying I missed you, woman!”
Watching the joyous smile on her husband’s face, Tsukuyo feels her lips curl up too as she caresses his cheeks affectionately. “I missed you too, you foolish man.”
“I just had the strangest dream ever. All just to see that no matter what or who you are, I will always end up falling for you.” Placing a hand on her heart, Gintoki looks at the love of his life with the brightest smile on his face. “It practically called you my soulmate.”
Hearing this, Tsukuyo lovingly holds her husband’s face in her palms, her amethyst eyes and soft voice entrancing him for the rest of his life. “Soulmate or not, I’ll always fall for you, too. No matter what.”
This makes the man exhale a sigh of relief. “I love you.” Gintoki says and leans in to touch his forehead with hers.
“I love you, too. And I’m sorry I couldn’t spend time with you for the last couple of weeks. You even came to meet me today but I couldn’t make it.” Tsukuyo apologetically says and closes her eye, finding comfort in his embrace.
Instead of asking when he went to meet her, Gintoki gently presses a kiss on her forehead and looks back at her. “Don’t apologize. Just…don’t overwork yourself, okay? And take a break. I was thinking of keeping it a surprise but let’s go somewhere for anniversary, on a trip.”
To his offer, Tsukuyo happily hums in response. “Okay. Let’s go.” Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulls him for a hug which he happily accepts.
Gintoki doesn’t remember what exactly happened here; the dream is only that he has memories of. And yet, there is a part of him that knows that wasn’t just a dream. However, instead of pondering about the past, he’d rather live in the present. After all, he deserves this moment of happiness his wife after getting his mind bombarded by a strange ‘test’.
“By the way, I think I’ll have to take a longer break.”
At this, Gintoki pulls back a little, slightly confused. “Huh?”
Looking down, he watches Tsukuyo take his hand off her waist and slowly bring it to her belly while Gintoki looks back up at her, astonished and completely speechless.
“Looks like you’re gonna be a father again, Sakata-san.” Watching the sexy smirk adoring her beautiful face, Gintoki feels his face go from surprised to purely ecstatic. And in an instant, he sweeps her off her feet, spinning her around in exhilarating joy while Tsukuyo giggles warmly in his arms.
“WE’RE GONNA PARENTS SOON!”
“Hahahaha! Gintoki, stop it!”
“WE’RE GONNA BE PARENTS SOON , BABY!”
“Yes, yes! I know! Now put me down!”
In between their giggles and joyous laughs, the two stop midway in their little celebration as Gintoki carefully brings the woman down. His wide, goofy grin never leaves his face and he once again presses his lips against hers, which she wholeheartedly returns. No way can he ever explain how happy he is now. After years of running away, after years of calling himself unworthy of love, he finally found someone who now shares her life with him. And never in this lifetime or any other, would he like to change that.
“Thank you for making me the luckiest man in the world.”
